The project is identified as a key project to synchronize the infrastructure of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone, ensure traffic capacity compatible with the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, and at the same time create a modern, civilized, green and sustainable urban appearance of the border gate. According to the proposal, the project consists of three main components.
Firstly, expanding the connecting route from Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway to Moc Bai International Border Gate, approximately 3.7km long, 70m wide, with synchronous items such as drainage system, trees, lighting and traffic signs. The route after completion can accommodate 10,000-15,000 vehicles per day, significantly reducing the load on National Highway 22.
Second, upgrading and expanding the Moc Bai Border Gate Joint Control Station, combined with landscape improvement of the area of landmark 171. This project aims to form a modern, friendly control space, similar to the model of an airport terminal or train station, expanding the immigration clearance area to about 7,500m² - 5 times the current status, meeting the increasing traffic demand in the future. The project also arranges a traffic system, vehicle inspection posts, roundabouts, canopies and covered walkways connecting the barriers, ensuring order, security and beauty of the international border gate.
Third, build a drainage canal at Moc Bai border gate including two branches KT1 and KT1-1, with a total length of 3.53km, serving the drainage of rainwater and treated wastewater for the 375ha basin of urban, industrial and commercial areas in the border gate economic zone.
The total investment of the project is nearly 996 billion VND, of which the central government supports about 850 billion VND, the rest from the local budget and revenue from infrastructure fees at the border economic zone.
The project implementation period is divided into two phases: investment preparation in the period 2025-2026 and construction from 2027 to 2030. The project is decided by the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province on the investor and the form of project management through a professional consulting unit.
According to the Tay Ninh Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, the investment in Moc Bai infrastructure development is a strategic step to realize the Master Plan for the construction of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone until 2045 approved by the Prime Minister, contributing to enhancing international trade capacity, developing logistics, border tourism and promoting regional connectivity between Tay Ninh - Ho Chi Minh City - Cambodia./.
