Coordinate and synchronously implement measures during the peak period against IUU fishing

In Phuoc Thang ward (Ho Chi Minh City), the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 held a conference to disseminate and assign tasks to forces and vehicles to strengthen patrols, inspections and controls during the peak period against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing on the evening of October 28.

Accordingly, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 presides over the command, dispatching ships to coordinate with ships of Border Guard Squadron 18 to organize patrols, inspections and controls in assigned sea areas. The forces coordinate to deploy synchronous observation and reconnaissance measures, not to miss or miss targets, especially for fishing vessels that have lost connection to the voyage monitoring device (VMS); inspect and control 100% of fishing vessels that show signs of suspicion, operate on the wrong route, lose connection to VMS or violate the "3 no's".

At the launching ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, requested that agencies, units and forces uphold their sense of responsibility, proactively complete preparations in terms of human resources, vehicles and equipment; organize patrols, inspections and controls according to plans and legal regulations, and ensure absolute safety during the entire mission. During the peak period, ships and units regularly report the situation and results daily so that leaders and commanders at all levels can promptly grasp and direct in accordance with reality.
The Command of Coast Guard Region 3 strictly implements the Prime Minister's direction and the order of the Ministry of National Defense , resolutely "declares war" on IUU fishing violations, completely ending the violations before the European Commission (EC) Inspection Team visits Vietnam for the 5th inspection; determined to contribute with the entire political system to remove the "yellow card" in 2025. Violations detected directly will be strictly handled. In addition, the unit will coordinate with functional agencies, Party committees and authorities of coastal localities to thoroughly handle violating fishing vessels.
During the implementation of the mission, the forces will coordinate propaganda and guidance for fishermen to comply with legal regulations; be ready to carry out search and rescue missions and other emergency missions when ordered.
