The downstream of Vu Gia - Thu Bon river is deeply flooded, thousands of households are isolated.

On the morning of October 28, in the downstream areas of Vu Gia and Thu Bon rivers (Da Nang city), floodwaters continued to rise, isolating thousands of households and leaving many roads flooded 1-2m deep.

Floodwaters continue to rise downstream of Thu Bon River, causing some areas in Dien Ban ward to be nearly 2 meters deep.

According to the Central Hydrometeorological Station, on the morning of October 28, water levels on the Vu Gia River, the lower Thu Bon River and the Tam Ky River continued to fluctuate. The upper Thu Bon River has peaked and is slowly decreasing.

Specifically, at 8:00 a.m. the same day: Vu Gia River at Ai Nghia was at 10.03m, 1.03m above alert level 3, down 0.02m compared to 1 hour ago; Thu Bon River at Nong Son reached 17.6m (0.6m above alert level 2), down 0.1m; at Gia Thuy 9.63m (0.83m above alert level 3), down 0.03m; at Cau Lau 5.3m (1.3m above alert level 3), down 0.02m; at Hoi An 3.12m, 0.12m higher than alert level 3; Tam Ky River and Han River are currently at alert level 2.

Despite proactive measures to prevent flooding, many people's properties were still submerged.

According to the reporter's records in Dien Ban Dong ward, floodwaters rose rapidly from 10-20cm within just 30 minutes, causing many roads to be deeply submerged. People proactively raised their property and necessities to avoid damage.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Cuong (Block 2A, Dien Ban Dong Ward) said: "From 2am, the water started to rise on the street. By about 5am, the water had risen nearly half a meter, my wife and I had to put electrical appliances up high to prevent the water from continuing to rise."

Many other areas such as Triem Dong, Phu Chiem, Triem Trung were flooded 1-2m deep, people had to go upstairs to avoid the flood. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Viet (Triem Trung) shared: "All last night, my family moved things up high but the water still flooded nearly 1m, submerging almost all the belongings. Since 2007 until now, we have never seen such a big flood."

The rapid rise in the floodwaters caused many unexpected situations. In block 2A, Dien Ban Dong ward, a wedding had to be held temporarily at the neighborhood cultural house because the bride's family was isolated by the water. People used ox carts to bring the groom's family representatives and the dowry into the flooded area, then the groom pulled the cart carrying the bride out of the flooded area for the wedding ceremony.

To support the bride and groom, residents of block 2A used ox carts to transport some representatives of the groom's family and the dowry to the flooded area. However, because the bride's house was also deeply flooded, the ceremony at the bride's house was held at the cultural house of block 2A. After 1 hour, the groom pulled the cart to take the bride out of the flooded area to officially get on the flower car to the groom's house for the wedding ceremony.

In Da Nang City, according to a summary report, 42 communes and wards were flooded. By the morning of October 28, authorities had evacuated more than 4,200 households (over 11,400 people) from deeply flooded areas at risk of landslides. The evacuation was carried out urgently, ensuring safety, with priority given to the elderly, children and policy households.
