Floods on Vu Gia and Thu Bon rivers continue to rise.

DNO - On the afternoon and evening of October 27, due to heavy rain in the basins of hydroelectric reservoirs on the upper reaches of Vu Gia and Thu Bon rivers, the discharge through the spillway increased. On the afternoon of October 27, flood water levels in the rivers downstream continued to rise, with the risk of widespread flooding as heavy rain is forecast to last until October 29.

At 13:00, the floodwater level on the Cai River (Dak Mi) rose again to 23.41m (1.41m higher than alarm level 3) after peaking at 7:00 on the same day at 23.02m (1.02m higher than alarm level 3) and is trending upwards due to increased discharge from the Dak Mi 4 Hydropower Plant through the spillway into the Vu Gia River (at 15:00 on the same day, the Dak Mi 4 Hydropower Plant was discharging 1,340 /s through the spillway).

The floodwater level of the Vu Gia River at Hoi Khach has risen to 17.15m, 0.65m higher than alarm level 3, and is also rising due to increased discharge from the A Vuong and Song Bung 4 hydroelectric reservoirs into the Vu Gia River (at 2 PM on the same day, the discharge through the spillway of the A Vuong hydroelectric reservoir was 990m³ /s and Song Bung 4 was 484m³ /s).

The water level of the Thu Bon River in Nong Son has risen to 17.42m, 2.42m higher than alarm level 3, and is trending upwards due to the increased discharge rate from the Song Tranh 2 hydroelectric reservoir (at 3 PM on the same day it was 1,745 /s).

Water levels in downstream rivers, including the Vu Gia River at Ai Nghia and the Thu Bon River at Giao Thuy and Hoi An, are all above alarm level 3 and are continuing to rise due to heavy rain and increased discharge from some upstream hydroelectric reservoirs, causing further flooding in Dai Loc commune and Hoi An ward…

Floodwaters on the Yen River upstream of the An Trach dam are still rising, causing deep flooding in areas of Hoa Tien commune and Hoa Xuan ward.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from this afternoon until tonight (October 27), Da Nang city will continue to experience rain with accumulated rainfall generally ranging from 60-120mm, and in some places exceeding 200mm.

During the evening and night of October 27th, there is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes in many communes and wards.

The total accumulated rainfall in Da Nang city from July 27 to the early morning of July 29 was generally between 300-500mm, with some areas receiving over 800mm.

On October 29th, both day and night, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang city experienced moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 50-100mm, and locally exceeding 200mm. Heavy rain in the Central region is likely to continue until the end of October 2025.
