Chinese Diva admires Phuong My Chi

After the quarter-final night of the Sing! Asia competition on June 27, Phuong My Chi became the center of attention not only in Vietnam but also caused a "fever" on Chinese social networks. During the competition night, the female singer performed the song Bong phu hoa , composed by the group DTAP, inspired by the story Nguoi con gai Nam Xuong.

Phuong My Chi's performance "Bong phu hoa" rose to the top 1 trending on YouTube Vietnam in the music category.

The performance combines traditional music with contemporary influences. The arrangement uses the Dan Co as the main sound axis, evoking a culturally rich Southern space and contributing to recreating the characteristic chanting quality of folk songs.

In particular, the female singer born in 2003 surprised the entire audience when she sang the chorus in Chinese - a subtle combination that helped the audience and international judges more easily perceive the meaning of the work. One of the moments that made the audience explode was when Phuong My Chi reached the highest note - known as the "dolphin voice".

Since the beginning of the competition, Truong Luong Dinh has repeatedly praised Phuong My Chi for her diversity in style – sometimes singing gentle ballads, sometimes dancing energetically, even combining martial arts on stage.

The fact that a young contestant dared to demonstrate this technique in front of her became a topic of discussion on social media. Famous Chinese blogger Yu Jiu Shu (nearly 7 million followers on Weibo) posted this video with praise: "Her flute range was both high and resonant, suddenly surprising the whole studio. Judge Zhang Liangying's eyes also lit up. Who would have thought that this little girl would hide such an amazing breakthrough power?"
