Vietnamese company receives US patent for AI technology to detect abnormal sounds

An AI technology developed by FPT has just been patented in the US, marking an important step forward in the innovation journey of Vietnamese enterprises on the global artificial intelligence map.

FPT ’s abnormal sound detection technology is based on a highly trained encoder-decoder neural network. It enables manufacturing companies to detect abnormal sound patterns in noisy environments, solving a major challenge in industrial maintenance and sound monitoring. The system can recognize signs of equipment failure, operational problems or security risks through sound, a factor that is often overlooked in traditional industrial maintenance.

FPT has integrated this model into the Intelligent Inspection (I2) SoundAI solution, which is currently deployed for businesses in the manufacturing and automotive sectors. With an accuracy of up to 95%, SoundAI helps businesses proactively maintain equipment, monitor product quality and reduce dependence on manual inspection processes.

With an AI-first orientation, FPT integrates AI into all solutions to improve business performance on a global scale. According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, Director of Artificial Intelligence at FPT Software, the patent demonstrates FPT's ability to develop copyrighted technology, solve complex practical problems and meet strict international standards.

This is not the first time FPT has made its mark on the international patent market. In early 2025, the group also became the first Vietnamese enterprise to be granted a patent in the US for a neural network system that generates and ranks source code, currently applied in AI4Code - an intelligent programming assistant that helps increase work efficiency and improve the quality of software products.

FPT currently operates two AI Factories in Vietnam and Japan, equipped with NVIDIA GPUs and ranked among the Top 40 fastest supercomputers in the world . This is the foundation for large-scale AI research, development and deployment activities.

According to the strategy to 2030, FPT aims to equip AI skills for 500,000 people, serving at least 50% of Vietnam's population and providing AI solutions to 300 million people globally, affirming the pioneering position of Vietnamese enterprises in innovation and application of artificial intelligence.
