Chilean businesses interested in importing Vietnamese agricultural products

According to a VNA correspondent in South America, taking place from September 30 to October 2 at the Espacio Riesco Exhibition Center, the 2025 International Food and Services Fair attracted nearly 40,000 visitors, including importers, distributors, representatives of restaurant chains, hotels and experts in the food and beverage sector in the South American region.

With a scale of 34,442 m² and more than 1,400 booths, the fair is considered the largest trade event in the food and beverage industry in Chile, gathering thousands of businesses to introduce products, processing and packaging technology, and organize business connection activities (B2B) and specialized seminars.

Vietnam actively participated in the Fair with booths displaying samples of about 50 domestic enterprises, with main products being agricultural products and processed foods such as rice, coffee, dried fruits, fruit juices, spices, instant foods, along with some handicrafts and kitchen appliances, to promote quality and seek opportunities to penetrate deeper into the South American market.

The fact that dozens of importers are interested in Vietnamese products is a positive signal in the context of strong growth in bilateral trade between the two countries. According to the National Customs Department of Chile, in the 8 months from the beginning of 2025, the import-export turnover between Vietnam and Chile reached 1.22 billion USD, up 22.3% over the same period last year. Of which, Chile imported goods from Vietnam with a total value of more than 1 billion USD (up 28.5%) and exported to Vietnam more than 204 million USD (down 1.5%).

Vietnam is currently Chile's 12th largest goods supplier, accounting for 1.8% of the market share, up from 1.4% in 2024. Vietnam's main exports to Chile include machinery and equipment, phones, footwear, computers, clothing and rice.

Notably, from January to August 2025, many Vietnamese goods grew strongly compared to the same period last year: optical fiber and cable increased by more than 264%, machinery and equipment increased by 149%, means of transport and components (142%), refrigerators, freezers (126%), rice increased (91.7%). Footwear and clothing items also maintained double-digit growth, showing the great potential of Vietnamese goods in the Chilean market.
