How do businesses evaluate the quality of labor in Ho Chi Minh City?

(Dan Tri) - A survey of labor quality indicators at 2,000 enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City shows that enterprises rated Ho Chi Minh City's laborers at an average score of 3.72 (on a scale of 5).


According to the Ho Chi Minh City Statistics Office and calculations by the Center for Human Resources Demand Forecasting and Labor Market Information (Falmi, a unit under the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City), the city's population in 2024 will be more than 9.59 million people, the labor force will be more than 4.876 million people, of which 4.691 million people are working.

Wage-earning workers are dominant at 68.75%, self-employed at 21.57%, family workers at 7% and business owners at 2.67%... Of which, the number of workers currently working in enterprises is more than 2.836 million people.

To assess the quality of labor in the city, in 2024, Falmi conducted a survey at 17,500 enterprises with a total of 475,818 employees.

For the management labor group, businesses rated professional knowledge from good to very good (accounting for 93.6%); soft skills were rated from good to very good, accounting for 92.6%; professional skills were also rated good to very good by 92.3% of businesses...

For the indirect labor group, 83.37% of businesses rated professional knowledge and soft skills from good to very good; regarding professional skills, 75.86% of businesses rated good to very good.

For the direct labor group, 73.26% of enterprises rated professional knowledge from good to very good; soft skills criteria were rated good to very good by 69.54% of enterprises; and professional skills were rated from good to very good by only 66.79%.

Regarding labor productivity, businesses also rate the city's workers very highly. Survey results show that up to 93.45% of the total number of ratings range from good to very good.

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Hieu, Director of Falmi, said: "This has demonstrated the capacity and work efficiency of the leaders in the enterprise. Indirect workers also received positive evaluations, met job requirements well and were recognized by the enterprise for their working ability. Direct workers also received trust and recognition for their contributions to the enterprise."

According to Falmi, businesses have also proactively applied many solutions to improve labor productivity in the company.

Some solutions chosen by most businesses are: Strengthening salary and welfare policies; exploiting and using human resources reasonably; applying advanced machinery and equipment...

Falmi also conducted an in-depth assessment of the level of business requirements and the level of employee response at 2,000 businesses according to 9 criteria: Ethics, work attitude; professional and technical competence; foreign languages; information technology; communication skills; teamwork skills; occupational safety and health skills; creative thinking skills, proactiveness; situation handling skills.

With a 5-level scale, the average value of the business's assessment of the level of employee satisfaction is 3.72.

"The scale results with an average value of 3.72 show that businesses evaluate the observed variables in the scale at the level from satisfactory to quite satisfactory," said Ms. Nguyen Hoang Hieu.
