On the afternoon of March 22, the 2025 International Youth Student Football Tournament officially opened at Ton Duc Thang University Stadium (HCMC).

In the opening match, a big surprise happened when the home team Ton Duc Thang University lost 1-3 to Life University (Cambodia). With enthusiastic cheers from the home crowd, Ton Duc Thang University entered the match with great enthusiasm and quickly took the lead in the 18th minute thanks to a goal by Hoang Duy Duong. However, the turning point came after the break.

In the 53rd minute, Kea Piseth took advantage of a mistake by the home team's defense to tie the score at 1-1. With the goal, the Cambodian representative played explosively, scoring two goals in the 66th and 73rd minutes - in which, Yen Makara's beautiful long-range shot sealed an impressive 3-1 victory.

In the remaining match of the day, University of Malaysia drew 1-1 with Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).

This year's tournament features 6 teams, divided into 2 groups competing in a round robin. The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the two winners advancing to the final and the two losers playing for third place.

Attractive prizes include championship trophies, medals, honorary plaques and cash prizes of up to 6,000 USD for the champion team, 4,000 USD for the second team and 2,000 USD for the third team.

In addition, the tournament also has special individual awards: The player who scores the most goals will receive 500 USD , and in the event of multiple players being tied, the prize will be divided equally. Other awards include the Best Player, Best Goalkeeper and Best Referee Team, each worth 500 USD . Each match will have an Outstanding Player who will receive 100 USD .

According to the draw results, the host Ton Duc Thang University (code A1) will compete in Group A with two strong opponents from Southeast Asia, Life University (Cambodia) and Lao University. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism (code B3) will face two international teams, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Malaysia University in Group B.
