Speaking at the opening of the conference, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong said that production, import-export and logistics are a series of important activities, playing a key role in the economy, contributing greatly to the socio-economic development of the country in general and the locality in particular.
Over the past time, Da Nang has been constantly making efforts to improve the investment and business environment; listening to and actively supporting businesses to remove difficulties and obstacles to promote the strong development of the business community, especially in the fields of production, import-export and logistics. The city's business community is growing stronger, operating effectively and contributing positively to the city's development.
However, with an open economy, deeply integrated into the world economy, Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular cannot avoid the impacts of unpredictable fluctuations in the world economic situation.
In particular, the United States announced a new tariff policy in recent days. Although the US Government later announced a 90-day suspension of reciprocal tariffs with more than 75 trading partner countries, including Vietnam, the impact of the news of the US imposing new tariffs has also affected many businesses in the city.
2025 is the final year of implementing the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025 and the starting year for the new period plan 2026-2030. To contribute to the country's growth target and create a solid foundation to achieve double-digit growth in the coming time, the business community, government and people of the city need to be more determined and make more efforts to help the city achieve its set goals.
The city hopes to continue to receive the support of the business community in implementing the city's socio-economic development strategies. The city government will continue to focus on removing difficulties and obstacles for businesses.

Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) Tran Thanh Hai said that in the first quarter of 2025, Vietnam's export turnover reached 102.84 billion USD, an increase of 10.6% over the same period last year.
Of which, the domestic economic sector reached 29.02 billion USD, up 15%, accounting for 28.2% of total export turnover; the foreign-invested sector (including crude oil) reached 73.82 billion USD, up 9.0%, accounting for 71.8%.
Regarding the export situation of some Vietnamese goods to the United States, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai said that the United States is Vietnam's largest export market (accounting for 29.5% of total merchandise exports) and Vietnam is the 8th largest trading partner of the United States. Bilateral trade has grown strongly and steadily; Vietnam's trade surplus with the United States has increased correspondingly each year.
The United States is a large, traditional market for many of Vietnam’s key export products. With tariffs much higher than those imposed on other competing exporting countries, Vietnam’s export products such as seafood, agricultural products, wood, textiles, and footwear will face great difficulties.
Faced with pressure from the United States on high reciprocal tariffs, Vietnam may have to continue to reduce import tax rates on many products in order to negotiate with the United States to reduce tariffs accordingly.
Currently, Vietnamese footwear exports to the US market are only subject to a 10% tax. The high reciprocal tax will certainly cause exports to stagnate, Vietnamese goods in the US will become more expensive, and consumers in this market will also reduce their spending.

According to information at the conference, Da Nang set a target of increasing the industrial production index in 2025 by 11-12% compared to 2024; the export growth rate in 2025 reached 8-9% compared to 2024.
The business dialogue conference was organized by the City People's Committee to create a bridge between businesses and state management agencies, helping to promptly resolve and remove difficulties and obstacles for businesses; and improve the investment and business environment.
The conference aims to provide information to the business community on the current status of production, import-export and logistics activities; new regulations and policies to support businesses in the fields of customs, tax and finance.
At the same time, city leaders and departments, branches and sectors receive information, directly answer, guide and propose solutions to remove difficulties for businesses.
