(HNMO) - On the evening of June 19, the Vietnamese women's team had a friendly match with the Polish U23 team and lost 1-2. This was also the first defeat for coach Mai Duc Chung and his team during their training trip in Europe.
In the first 15 minutes of the match, the opposing team actively increased the speed, continuously approaching and stealing the ball from our players. Many dangerous situations were created but goalkeeper Kim Thanh successfully blocked them all.
In the following minutes, coach Mai Duc Chung's players gradually regained control of the game. In the 21st minute, the Vietnamese women's team launched a quick counterattack, Thu Thao crossed from the sideline, but unfortunately the ball could not get past the tall defense of the Polish U23 women's team. In the 23rd minute, player wearing the number 10 jersey Magdalena Sobal dribbled down the right sideline in the 16m50 area, finished accurately, bringing home the opening goal.
After conceding the goal, the Vietnamese women's team attacked. In the 26th minute, from a combination with Hai Yen, Huynh Nhu dribbled the ball into the opponent's defender's leg, leading to the first corner kick for the Vietnamese team, but the subsequent high ball was unsuccessful. In the 32nd minute, after the attack, captain Huynh Nhu was injured and could not continue the match, Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang was sent onto the field.
In the final minutes of the half, the Vietnamese women's team continuously created quick attacks towards the opponent's goal but could not penetrate the solid defense of the home team. The first half ended with a score of 1-0 in favor of the Polish U23 women's team.
In the second half, the two teams played quite evenly and the Vietnamese team played quite fiercely to defend against the opponent's high balls. However, we still lacked a quality central defender like Chuong Thi Kieu, so it was very difficult for the opponent's attacks and they scored a goal to increase the score to 2-0 in the 60th minute from a penalty kick.
In the 70th minute, coach Mai Duc Chung withdrew most of the veteran players from the field and replaced them with young players, the same with U23 Poland. It was not until the 88th minute that the Vietnamese women's team scored a goal to reduce the score to 1-2 and this was also the final result of the match.
With this result, this is the first loss for coach Mai Duc Chung and his team during their training trip in Europe, after they had 2 wins in Germany (2-1 and 2-0). After this match, the Vietnamese women's team will return to Germany and have a friendly match with the German women's team - the world runner-up, before returning to Vietnam.
