Vietnam team 0-2 China
"We are in the process of testing the squad, with many young players playing," captain Que Ngoc Hai said in an interview after the match in which the Vietnamese team lost to China 0-2 on the evening of October 10.
The Vietnamese team was not inferior to its opponents. The home team did not show superior strength. However, coach Philippe Troussier's players did not play effectively and impressively. Two goals conceded in the second half and Nguyen Tien Linh's red card at the end of the match were the highlights of the Vietnamese team's defeat.

Que Ngoc Hai said: "Our goal is the matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Friendly matches are very helpful for the Vietnamese team. Young players gain more experience in the upcoming journey."
The Vietnamese team once defeated China in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. In this rematch, under the leadership of coach Troussier, the Vietnamese team made many changes in terms of lineup and playing style.
"Compared to the last match between the two teams, the squad and coaching staff have changed a lot. The Chinese team is gradually improving and getting used to the new coach. The same goes for the Vietnamese team. There are always many things to learn from the testing process. The Chinese team played well and the two teams will try harder in the upcoming journey," said Que Ngoc Hai.
The match against China is the first friendly match of the Vietnamese team in the series of international matches in October. This is still the testing phase, building the squad and playing style of coach Philippe Troussier, but the performance of the Vietnamese team makes fans worried.
On October 13, Que Ngoc Hai and his teammates will play a closed match against Uzbekistan. According to FIFA regulations, each team cannot play more than 2 international friendly matches in October. Therefore, the match between Vietnam and Uzbekistan is an unofficial friendly match.
