On February 1st, even though the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Snake 2025 had not yet ended, many people in the northern and central provinces chose to return to Ho Chi Minh City early, causing traffic density at the eastern gateway to the city to increase significantly.

According to observations, at over 5 PM, thousands of vehicles traveling on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressways, heading towards Ho Chi Minh City, experienced heavy traffic congestion, with long queues of vehicles moving slowly.

Earlier, at approximately 11:15 AM on the same day, at Km13+700 on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, in the direction from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City (section belonging to Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province), an accident occurred involving four passenger cars. The accident caused serious traffic congestion on the expressway, stretching for about 8km.

The highway heading towards Ho Chi Minh City was congested for many kilometers, with cars, buses, and trucks lined up bumper to bumper. Meanwhile, the access roads to the highway were relatively clear.

According to Tien Phong newspaper, the majority of vehicles were passenger cars and tourist buses driving in a long line from the highway towards Ho Chi Minh City.

The forecast for tomorrow (February 2nd) indicates continued traffic congestion on the main routes leading into Ho Chi Minh City. Traffic police advise people to choose appropriate travel times, maintain permitted speeds, and comply with the instructions of law enforcement officers.
