Antara News reported that female tourist Zhang Xiaohan (30 years old) was found dead at a depth of 87m at the Kelapa Dua diving site, near Kakaban Island, East Kalimantan province (Indonesia).

Mr. Endrow Sasmita, a rescue worker in Balikpapan city, said that the body of female tourist Zhang was found on the evening of May 3 after many hours of searching by the rescue team.

Initially, the group dived to a depth of about 30 meters to explore the marine ecosystem. After about 30 minutes, when the group began to surface and was about 5 meters below the surface, Ms. Zhang accidentally dropped her GoPro camera.

Despite the efforts of a tour guide named Willy to dissuade her, Ms. Zhang decided to dive down to retrieve the device. A few minutes after the customer disappeared, the two guides returned to search but were unsuccessful. The unexpected incident forced them to report the incident to the authorities.

Initial information suggests that the victim may have been swept away by a strong undersea current. The body of the unfortunate female tourist was later found and taken to the hospital for a forensic examination.

The incident quickly attracted attention and caused a stir on mainland Chinese social media. Some people in the diving group said that Zhang was an experienced diver with a Divemaster certificate. This is a professional certificate in the field of diving.
