16 projects expected to start construction and inaugurate on December 19

Among the four projects scheduled to start construction is the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project.

The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project has a total length of 419 km, with the starting point at the cross-border rail connection point (Lao Cai province) and the ending point at Lach Huyen station (Hai Phong city).

The Department of Economics and Construction Investment Management ( Ministry of Construction ) said it plans to start construction and inaugurate 16 projects on December 19, including the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project.

Four projects are expected to start construction, including: Expanding the Cam Lo - La Son section; completing the Than Vu road tunnel; expanding the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway; and the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project.

12 projects are expected to be inaugurated, including: North-South Expressway, Eastern section, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon; Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh; Chi Thanh - Van Phong; Can Tho - Hau Giang, Hau Giang - Ca Mau; component project 2 of Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, Cao Lanh - Lo Te, Lo Te - Rach Soi Expressway; expansion of some bridges and tunnels on National Highway 1; renovation of Quy Nhon channel; project to upgrade Cai Mep - Thi Vai channel from buoy number "0" to Cai Mep container port area.

When put into operation, this railway line is expected to handle the transport capacity of about 21 million tons of goods and 14 million passengers per year.

The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project has a total length of 419 km, with the starting point at the cross-border rail connection point (Lao Cai province) and the ending point at Lach Huyen station (Hai Phong city). The total investment of the entire project exceeds VND203,200 billion (equivalent to USD8.37 billion).

The entire route is designed with 18 stations, including 15 mixed stations (for passenger and freight trains) and 3 train-making stations. The design speed of the route is divided into sections: 160 km/h for the main section from Lao Cai station to Lach Huyen port; 80 km/h for the Lao Cai section going to branch lines and 120 km/h for the section passing through Hanoi, coinciding with the Eastern belt railway.

When put into operation, this railway line is expected to handle the transport capacity of about 21 million tons of goods and 14 million passengers per year. The project will meet the transportation needs on the key economic corridor of Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, contributing to strongly promoting trade and import and export of goods between Vietnam and China and other countries.
