Mr. Chau said: The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway Construction Investment Project (Phase 1) was assigned by the Prime Minister to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee as the competent authority to implement the project. To date, Ho Chi Minh City has submitted the project investment policy for approval in June 2024.

The project is nearly 51km long, starting at the intersection with Ring Road 3 in Cu Chi District (HCMC), and ending at National Highway 22 (at Km 53+850) in Ben Cau District, Tay Ninh Province (5km from Moc Bai International Border Gate).

The section through Ho Chi Minh City is 24.66km, the section through Tay Ninh province is 26.317km, with a scale of six expressway lanes. Phase 1 will invest in a scale of four expressway lanes according to expressway standards, with a roadbed width of 25.5m.

The project will be cleared at once according to the scale of six expressway lanes along the entire route. The preliminary total investment (phase 1) is 19,617 billion VND. The BOT investor's capital is 9,943 billion VND, accounting for 50.69% of the total project investment.

"Currently, the province is coordinating with Ho Chi Minh City to carry out preparations to soon implement the project. It is expected to start construction in June 2025 and be completed and put into operation in 2027," Mr. Chau informed.

Currently, National Highway 22 is the main route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Tay Ninh and Moc Bai international border gate (Cambodia). However, this route is too narrow, often congested, affecting the transportation of goods and people's travel.
