Vietnam tourism strongly attracts international visitors

In the first 9 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed more than 15.4 million international visitors, contributing to tourism revenue reaching nearly 70 trillion VND.

The latest data from the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ) shows that in September 2025, international visitors to our country reached 1.5 million, down 9.6% compared to the previous month, but up 19.5% over the same period last year. In the first 9 months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached more than 15.4 million, up 21.5% over the same period last year.

Of which, arrivals by air reached 13.1 million, accounting for 85.2% of international arrivals and increasing by 21.9% over the same period last year; by road reached 2.1 million, accounting for 13.6% and increasing by 19.4%; by sea reached 190,600, accounting for 1.2% and increasing by 15.1%.

In terms of market size, China and South Korea continue to be the two largest sources of international visitors to Vietnam tourism , contributing nearly half of the total number of international visitors. Of which, China leads with 3.9 million arrivals, accounting for 25.2% of the total number of visitors; South Korea ranks second with 3.2 million arrivals, equivalent to an increase of 21%.

The next important markets include Taiwan (China) with 926,000 arrivals, ranked 3rd, the US   with 623,000 visits and Japan   with 618,000 arrivals. India attracted attention when it rose to 6th place in the group of 10 largest markets, reaching 505,000 arrivals. The remaining positions belonged to Cambodia with 490,000 arrivals, Russia with 435,000 arrivals and Australia with 401,000 arrivals. Russia is still the largest market for Vietnamese tourism in the European region.

Meanwhile, growth momentum came from European markets (up 34.9%), Asia (20.9%), Australia (13.7%), Americas (8.5%) and Africa (4.7%).

In the European market, Russia continued to grow rapidly by 173% thanks to the positive impact of the visa exemption policy and the effectiveness of tourism promotion and advertising programs in Russia implemented by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture , Sports and Tourism, localities and businesses in recent times. In addition, key markets in Europe such as France (up 22.6%), the UK (up 21.7%), Germany (up 17.5%) also maintained good growth momentum, along with Poland (up 46.0%), Italy (up 22.3%), Norway (up 19.8%), the Netherlands (up 18.3%), Belgium (up 17.9%), Sweden (up 17.0%) and Switzerland (up 15.8%).

In Asia, many major markets recorded high growth rates, of which China increased by 43.9%, India increased by 42.9%, and Japan increased by 17.1%. Southeast Asian countries also maintained positive growth momentum, led by the Philippines increasing by 92.2%, Cambodia by 50.4%, Laos by 32.8%, Indonesia by 14.2%, Malaysia by 13.7%, Singapore by 11.1%, and Thailand by 8.5%.

In general, the strong increase in international visitors to Vietnam has helped tourism revenue in the first 9 months of 2025 reach an estimated VND 69,600 billion, up 20.5% over the same period last year because from the beginning of the year, many localities have actively implemented tourism stimulus programs and developed many new types of tourism to attract domestic and foreign tourists. Some localities have high revenue in the first 9 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, including: Ho Chi Minh City increased by 24.3%; Hanoi increased by 21.9%; Quang Ninh increased by 20.2%; Vinh Long increased by 16.0%; Da Nang increased by 13.2%.

According to the General Statistics Office, tourism revenue in the first 9 months of 2025 is estimated at 69.6 trillion VND, up 20.5% over the same period last year because from the beginning of the year, many localities have actively implemented tourism stimulus programs and developed many new types of tourism to attract domestic and foreign tourists. Some localities have high revenue in the first 9 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, including: Ho Chi Minh City increased by 24.3%; Hanoi increased by 21.9%; Quang Ninh increased by 20.2%; Da Nang increased by 13.2%...

Experts say that favorable visa policies, enhanced tourism promotion programs, and activities to celebrate major national holidays are the factors that have attracted increasing numbers of international visitors to Vietnam over the past nine months.

With positive signals from the first 9 months of the year, experts expect Vietnam's tourism industry to continue to recover strongly, contributing to boosting economic growth and promoting the country's image to the world.
