His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa arrived in Ho Chi Minh City last night, March 24, when the Earth Hour event took place. He turned off all electrical devices in the room and only used candles for lighting. His Holiness said that Earth Hour is a meaningful activity, helping people raise awareness about the environment, helping to spread a simple and environmentally friendly lifestyle.
His Holiness reiterated the message of protecting Mother Nature: “Each person should raise their awareness of the environment, take action to protect water resources and nature because it is a part of our lives. In particular, those living in large, central cities like Ho Chi Minh City need to be role models in spreading the message about the environment.”

Having visited Ho Chi Minh City many times, His Holiness said that he loves this beautiful city very much, but it is clear that environmental pollution is a big problem in the city. Therefore, everyone, regardless of religion, needs to be aware and responsible for protecting the environment for themselves and for future generations. He called on people and Buddhists to plant trees, protect nature, and protect Mother Earth as if they were protecting their own home.
His Holiness believes that we often waste a lot of energy on many unimportant things in life, while the environment, a vital factor, is given little attention. Each person should learn, gather knowledge, educate themselves, as well as convey the message of environmental protection to everyone around them to have a better life.
Also on March 25, His Holiness visited the Standing Committee of the Executive Council and the Central Office of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha at Duc Quang Zen Monastery (HCMC). His Holiness will preside over a Fire Offering to pray for peace, remove obstacles, and increase longevity at Quan Am Tu Vien (Phu Nhuan District) on March 30.
On April 1, His Holiness attended the Fire Offering Ceremony at Thien Quang Ni Tu Pagoda (Di An town, Binh Duong province).
