
The art program was held on two evenings, October 25 and 26, at the Ho Chi Minh City Book Street stage, to contribute to promoting, preserving, maintaining and developing the unique values of the Hat Boi art form to a large audience in Ho Chi Minh City and international tourists.
The program content briefly introduces the origin, formation and development of the art of hát bội in cultural and social life from the past to the present, which is a long-standing traditional dramatic art form of the Vietnamese people, associated with the names of famous historical figures who have contributed to the construction and development of hát bội art such as: Đào Duy Từ, Đào Tấn, Ta Quân Lê Văn Duyệt...

One of the outstanding features of the art of hát bội is the art of facial makeup. Each color of a character's face reflects the character's personality, characteristics, destiny and role in each play.
In addition, the music is created from the combination of many types of traditional instruments belonging to the percussion, string and wind instruments such as: Dan Kim (moon lute), guitar, leaf horn, two-string fiddle (two-string fiddle), drums, cymbals, etc., which also contribute to the special appeal of Hat Boi music, supporting artists to perform attractive content and choreography on stage.

After explanations about the history of formation and development of the art of hát bội in community life, the meaning of facial makeup in plays representing typical characters in the performance of hát bội, introducing traditional musical instruments in the ancient orchestra, interacting with the audience, the artists of the HCM City Theatre of hát bội performed enthusiastically the following items: Village festival, folk musical instrument ensemble, performing excerpts from the heroic Truong Dinh, Tran Quoc Toan, Emperor Le Dai Hanh, Ho Nguyet Co turns into a fox...
