As a person with more than 20 years of experience in planting and developing forests, owning the largest planted forest area in Duc Lang commune with 15 hectares, Mr. Vo Tat Thang (Tan Quang village) said that on hot days, even a moment of carelessness can cause serious damage.

“The entire forest area is the main source of income for my family, bringing in hundreds of millions of dong each year. Every year, during the hot season, I focus on taking care of, protecting and preventing forest fires. This includes carrying out tasks such as clearing the forest, removing flammable materials, ensuring safety when producing in the forest, coordinating with the authorities to install fire ban signs, and building firebreaks…” – Mr. Vo Tat Thang shared.

Duc Tho Farm (belonging to Huong Khe Rubber Company) is managing nearly 1,000 hectares of forest, of which 320 hectares are rubber plantations 15-17 years old, the rest are acacia and natural forests. Currently, most of the rubber forest area of ​​Duc Tho Farm has been and is harvesting latex with high yield. Forest protection is a key factor to develop the forestry economy and increase income for local people.

Mr. Phan Xuan Hai - Director of Duc Tho Farm shared: "At the beginning of the hot season, the unit proactively installed fire prohibition signs at all forest gates, forest edges, and forest areas at risk of fire, and repaired wall signs with propaganda content on forest protection and forest fire prevention. In particular, the unit has been continuously clearing vegetation to create firebreaks for the whole month."

Not only at farms or forest owners, forest fire prevention work is also implemented synchronously and effectively by localities in Duc Tho district. Typically, Tan Huong commune - one of the localities with the largest forest area in the district with 1,200 hectares, distributed contiguously, spread across 4/4 villages - propaganda work on forest fire prevention is deployed from villages, hamlets to schools in the area. Up to now, 100% of forests in Tan Huong commune have been assigned to people for planting, management and exploitation. The locality has also consolidated and effectively operated the steering committee, 4 protection teams, and PCCCR shock teams.

In Duc Dong commune, right from the beginning of the hot season, many practical solutions have been implemented to strengthen propaganda work, raise awareness among people and forest owners about the risk of forest fires. Mr. Le Van Hiep - Chairman of Duc Dong Commune People's Committee shared: "Duc Dong is a mountainous commune with a key forest area that is prone to fire and has a high risk of encroachment in the whole district. People's income mainly depends on planting and developing forests. Therefore, right from the beginning of the year, we have established forest fire prevention and fighting teams to equip them with basic knowledge and skills to promptly respond to fire situations when they first arise. In addition, the research on terrain, current forest status, and rescue drills have also been flexibly and effectively coordinated by forest rangers, local authorities and people."

Anticipating many difficulties and challenges in forest fire prevention in hot weather conditions, Duc Tho District Forest Protection Department has also increased patrols and controls in key forest areas. Every day, forest protection teams in Duc Tho organize patrols in the hot sun; update forest fire risk warning bulletins on the radio system from the district to the communes.

Forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting work following the motto "4 on-site" helps Duc Tho protect the forest area well in hot weather conditions.
