Stop activities of Nghinh Ong Thang Tam Festival in Vung Tau

Previously, on August 20, Vung Tau City People's Committee issued Plan No. 9071/2024 to organize the Nghinh Ong Thang Tam Vung Tau Festival 2024. The festival will take place from September 14 to September 20 with the contents of the Nghinh Ong Festival at sea on the main festival day (August 16 of the lunar calendar) and other festival activities.

Vung Tau stops all activities of the Nghinh Ong Thang Tam 2024 festival to join the whole country in supporting the people in the North affected by storm No. 3.

However, in the past few days, storm No. 3 (storm Yagi ) with very strong intensity has flooded the northern provinces of our country with great destruction, leaving extremely serious consequences, people's lives are seriously affected by the flood situation.

In the spirit of the beloved Northern provinces and cities, the People's Committee of Vung Tau City has decided to stop the festival activities as previously planned. The authorities and localities have proactively coordinated and notified agencies, units, people and tourists about the suspension of these festival activities.

For the Management Board of Dinh Than Thang Tam, no cultural, singing, or dancing activities will be organized during this time, only incense offerings and some ceremonies will be organized.

In 2023, the Thang Tam Whale Festival was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Tourism businesses in the area proactively research and adjust plans to organize activities related to the tourism service sector appropriately; do not organize cultural, artistic, entertainment activities of a community nature or with large crowds.
