Excavators are transporting rocks and soil from the landslide scene and the classroom at Pac Ra school is cracked.

In the middle of a dilapidated wooden house of about 30 square meters in Pac Ra hamlet (Ly Bon commune, Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province), 40 preschool students are babbling to spell letters. This is their temporary school after the main school was damaged beyond repair by a landslide following storm No. 3.

At Pac Ra Kindergarten in late September, an excavator was continuously scooping up rocks and dirt onto large trucks. Inside the school, rocks and dirt were strewn about, mirrors and glass were broken. A whole section of the wall had collapsed, causing dirt to spill into the classrooms. To prevent the school from collapsing at any time, wooden beams were erected as pillars to support the building.

Pac Ra Kindergarten has 40 kindergarten students, most of whose families are poor and near-poor, Mong, Dao, Tay ethnic groups and their lives still face many difficulties.

Standing in the middle of a messy classroom, Ms. Ma Thi Tu (principal of Ly Bon Kindergarten) said: "After the rains in July, soil from the neighboring hill slid down to Pac Ra school.

Determining the risk of unsafe teaching and learning, the school leaders moved the class to a wooden house in the Pac Ra village cultural house, which had been abandoned for nearly 2 years. On September 9, heavy rains after storm No. 3 caused rocks and soil from the neighboring hill to collapse, causing serious damage to the school beyond repair.

About 100 meters from Pac Ra school, two temporary classrooms for children are lit.

“All the students’ eating, activities and studying take place in this cramped space. Although the house has been renovated, every time it rains heavily, the classroom leaks. The wooden pillars are also infested with termites, so sometimes when the children exercise vigorously, I am very worried,” added teacher Dam Thi Thuyen.

Ms. Ma Thi Tu, principal of Ly Bon Kindergarten, is still shocked by the devastation caused by storm No. 3 at Pac Ra school.

The temporary school of Pac Ra kindergarten students used to be the Pac Ra village cultural house, made of wood and abandoned for 2 years.

The huge amount of rock and soil that fell down caused part of the classroom to collapse completely, seriously affecting the structure of the house.

After lunch, the students will sleep in the classroom.

'You're welcome' - the 'trademark' saying of Mr. Le Ngoc Thach was explained in more detail by him when the certificate of merit from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee was assigned to the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union and Tuoi Tre newspaper to be presented to him.
