Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) Pham Hong Phuong informed about the project progress.
On the morning of July 31, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held an online meeting with the People's Committees of Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces to resolve issues related to compensation and site clearance within the corridor of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project.
Regarding the project implementation progress, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) Pham Hong Phuong said that up to now, the handover of the site for 468/468 column foundation positions has been completed. In addition, regarding the progress of supplying steel columns, the delivery of 449/468 complete column positions to the construction site (reaching a rate of 95.94%) has been completed; the lower body of the remaining 19 column positions has been provided, and the upper part is being provided, expected to be completed no later than August 1, 2025.
Providing more information about the results of EVN's implementation of assigned tasks according to the directions and conclusions of the Prime Minister , Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr. Pham Hong Phuong said that EVN/Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1) resolutely directed contractors to focus all resources with the highest determination and effort, overcoming all difficult weather and terrain conditions to complete: Erecting poles before August 10, 2025; laying wires before August 15, 2025; accepting and energizing the project before August 19, 2025 according to the schedule assigned by the Prime Minister .
Regarding mobilizing people, the Deputy General Director of EVN expressed that, throughout the implementation process, EVN/EVNPMB1 has always been proactive and closely coordinated with local authorities at all levels, organizations carrying out compensation and site clearance work, and mass organizations to promote propaganda and mobilize people about the urgent and important nature of the project, thereby getting people to support and hand over the site early, contributing to promoting the progress of project implementation.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long suggested that EVN continue to coordinate more closely with localities.
To ensure the completion of the project on schedule, Mr. Pham Hong Phuong requested the People's Committees of Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces to direct the Departments of Industry and Trade of these provinces to support and mobilize owners of hydropower plants in the affected areas to share difficulties and agree on the power outage schedule for related power lines as proposed by EVN/EVNPMB1 to organize the construction of pulling and laying conductors at intersecting areas.
In addition, EVN recommends that the Ministry of National Defense/Military Region 2 continue to maintain support personnel and equipment until the above tasks are completed and when there is a need to cut down trees, move houses, assets, and structures out of the route.
At the same time, it is recommended that the Ministry of Public Security direct the provincial police to continue to coordinate and support the commune authorities in propaganda work, mobilizing people to support the project, agree with the compensation, support and resettlement plan, not request compensation higher than the regulations or obstruct construction, and ensure security and order at the construction site.
Also at the meeting, representatives of Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces reported on difficulties and obstacles in compensation and site clearance procedures and made proposals and recommendations to EVN. However, with high determination, the localities affirmed that they will focus maximum human resources and mobilize the entire political system to completely resolve the obstacles and difficulties...
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long suggested that EVN continue to coordinate more closely with localities. At the same time, it is necessary to sympathize, understand and share more with people during the implementation process.
Regarding EVN's reports, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade highly appreciated them for clearly and specifically stating the items that need to be completed, as well as the recommendations that need to be coordinated by localities. Thereby, the Deputy Minister requested localities to consider and handle them quickly and most conveniently so that the project can be energized on August 19, 2025.
At the same time, the Deputy Minister requested the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security to continue directing forces stationed in the area to closely coordinate with local authorities, both supporting the construction process and ensuring safety and protecting the project when necessary, especially at key construction sites.
The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project is a national key energy project, of great significance in ensuring the country's energy security. The project is invested by EVN; the Power Project Management Board 1 is assigned to represent the investor in managing and operating the project. The project has a total investment of more than 7,410 billion VND.
