Expressing her joy and excitement at accepting the invitation to visit and work in Dien Bien province on the occasion of the locality's 70th Anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, Ms. Patricia Mirallès said that this would be a ripe time for both sides to remember and pay tribute to the bravery of the soldiers who fought on the Dien Bien Phu battlefield. In the spirit of friendly and frank exchanges between the two sides, the representative of the French Delegation acknowledged that Dien Bien province has done a good job ofeducating the younger generation about history, helping the next generations not to forget history, but also having a very fair and altruistic perspective.
According to Ms. Patricia Mirallès, in the near future, the representative of the French Army will sign a letter of confidence with the Vietnamese Army. In particular, there are many contents and topics directly related to Dien Bien , such as: Building historical documents; excavating the remains of French soldiers... Dien Bien Phu is a connecting point, directly related to both sides, so there is a lot of work to do here. Therefore, Ms. Patricia Mirallès hopes that both sides will look back at history, cooperate, build and implement joint and support projects, in order to reduce the pain of the past, build Dien Bien and develop, tighten the friendly relationship between the two countries. The immediate task is the inauguration and putting into operation of the Muong Thanh bridge lighting system, with the meaning of lighting up and connecting the two banks of the relationship between the two sides.
The representative of the French Delegation hopes that Dien Bien province will continue to pay attention to building a historical discovery journey in the coming time, including signs in three languages; actively coordinate, deploy, and exploit the works and projects that the French Government and organizations have been and are implementing in Dien Bien, such as: Nam Rom River embankment project; Urban beautification project; projects supporting education and people's lives, etc.
On behalf of the leaders of Dien Bien province, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong expressed his joy at welcoming the French delegation. He also thanked the delegation for their attention, as well as the French Government for organizing visits and cooperation, especially programs and projects towards the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, such as: Supporting the lighting system of Muong Thanh bridge, Nam Rom river; exchanging and propagating history for students of some local schools...
Affirming the close cooperative and friendly relationship between Vietnam in general, Dien Bien in particular, and France over the years, the Provincial Party Secretary also said that the locality is currently maintaining and promoting very well the sources of support and cooperation from France. On this occasion, Vietnam organized the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, with the purpose of expressing gratitude to the generations who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation; at the same time as a humane way of educating about history. The locality will also organize a Grand Requiem for all those who fell in the war in Dien Bien, including both Vietnamese and French soldiers. In that spirit, the two sides will make efforts together to ease the pain of war to build peace. The Provincial Party Secretary hopes to continue to receive much affection and practical attention from France towards Dien Bien. In particular, in the coming time, products bearing the Dien Bien brand (coffee, macadamia, rice, etc.) will be available in the French market.
