On the morning of November 2nd, 2023, the Academy of Construction and Urban Management Officials (AMC) collaborated with the Cao Bang Department of Construction. A training course on the Overview of Sustainable Smart Urban Development was organized in Cao Bang province as part of the project "Establishing a Vietnam-Korea Cooperation Center on Smart Cities and Construction Technology". Nearly 100 participants, including leaders and officials from various departments, agencies, districts, and cities under the province's jurisdiction, attended the opening ceremony. Mr. Doan Quoc Chinh, Director of the Cao Bang Department of Construction, and Mr. Luu Duc Minh, Deputy Director of AMC Academy, along with all the participants, were present at the ceremony.

Speaking at the training course, Mr. Doan Quoc Chinh, Director of the Cao Bang Department of Construction, stated that developing smart cities is an important goal that Cao Bang province is striving for. Developing smart cities is one of the key drivers towards achieving the goal of making Vietnam a modern, high-income industrialized country by 2045. At the same time, he also emphasized the role of the Academy of Construction and Urban Management Cadres in choosing Cao Bang as the location to implement training on the contents of the VKC Project on Smart Cities. The updated content aimed at strengthening training, technology exchange, and cooperation in smart city technology training under the VKC Project is even more significant given that Cao Bang province is one of the provinces currently undergoing digital transformation in the fields of economy , culture, and society, towards building a smart city.

The training course on the Overview of Smart Cities is of significant importance in promptly serving the staff and officials of the Construction sector, relevant departments and agencies, and districts, towns, and cities in performing their assigned functions and tasks . The program content is very practical, including both theory and discussions on problematic situations at the local level. Therefore, to ensure the training course is highly effective, Mr. Chinh requested that the trainees uphold a high sense of responsibility and attend the course fully to receive the knowledge imparted by the lecturers and apply it effectively to solve assigned tasks at their localities and units. They should also boldly exchange and discuss difficulties, limitations, and shortcomings in practical activities at their localities to clarify and propose solutions that are appropriate to the local reality and daily work.

Over the course of three days, from November 2nd to November 4th, 2023, lecturers from AMC Academy will deliver presentations on topics related to smart cities. Specifically, the content will include the following:

- Introduction to the system of legal documents, policies, and institutions.

- Overview of the smart city approach

- The content of the Smart City Development Project.

- An interconnected urban database based on GIS.

- Smart urban utility services.

- Digital transformation of various sectors in the construction industry.

- Construction management information systems and other related solution systems (BIM, BMS, etc.)

- Smart urban infrastructure

- State management of the construction sector in planning, project approval, construction permit issuance, and urban development indicators in line with smart city development orientation.

- Digital transformation project, building a provincial-level urban planning and development management system for the construction sector.

As the Project Coordinator, directly implementing, exploiting, and utilizing the outputs of Components 3 and 4 on the Establishment of the VKC Center (Vietnam-Korea Cooperation Center on Smart Cities and Construction Technology) and Strengthening training capacity, technology exchange, and cooperation in smart city technology training, AMC Academy will continue to organize training courses on smart cities within the framework of the VKC Project. This aims to make a significant contribution to supporting the improvement of institutions and laws on smart city development, while simultaneously enhancing the capacity of policy-making agencies and management levels in localities in the future.
