Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade ( VietinBank - stock code CTG) announced the closing of the shareholder list on December 18th to issue shares as dividends from remaining profits for the years 2021, 2022 and the period 2009-2016. Specifically, the bank will issue nearly 2.4 billion shares in this offering, meaning that for every 100 shares owned, investors will receive 44.63 new shares, equivalent to approximately 44.63%. After the issuance, VietinBank's charter capital is expected to increase from nearly VND 53,700 billion to nearly VND 77,670 billion. CTG shares are currently trading around VND 49,500, up 37% compared to a year ago.

This week, in addition to VietinBank, two other banks also paid dividends in shares. These are Ho Chi Minh City Development Commercial Bank ( HDBank - stock code HDB), which announced the closing date for shareholders on December 19th to pay dividends and bonus shares with a total ratio of nearly 30%. Accordingly, shareholders owning 100 HDB shares will receive an additional 29.69 shares, including a 25% dividend from undistributed after-tax profits in 2024 and bonus shares at a rate of 4.69% from the capital reserve fund. The total number of shares issued in this round is nearly 965 million. After the issuance, HDBank's charter capital increased from VND 38,594 billion to over VND 50,053 billion. HDB shares are currently trading at VND 30,200, up 18% compared to the beginning of this year.
Another bank, Saigon Commercial and Industrial Bank (Saigonbank - stock code SGB), also finalized its shareholder list on December 18th to pay dividends in shares at a rate of 6.5%. Shareholders owning 1,000 shares will receive an additional 65 new shares. The bank plans to issue over 22 million shares to existing shareholders in this round. After the issuance, Saigonbank's charter capital is expected to increase from VND 3,388 billion to VND 3,608 billion. SGB shares are currently trading around VND 13,500, up 12% over the past year.
Thus, nearly 3.4 billion of the aforementioned bank shares will be listed on the stock exchange at the beginning of the new year. For shareholders waiting for the shares to be officially traded, on the ex-dividend date, the share prices of CTG, HDB, and SGB will be reduced proportionally to the number of shares distributed.
