According to the Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd., by the end of January 27, 31,453 hectares of land for the 2024-2025 spring rice crop in Hai Duong had been flooded, reaching 61.8% of the plan.

Hai Duong City is the first locality in the province to have completed flooding for 100% of the rice cultivation area. Many localities have flooded most of the planned area such as Ninh Giang (89.7%), Tu Ky (87.4%), Chi Linh (74.9%), Gia Loc (70.1%)...

Most of the spring rice growing area in Ngu Hung commune (Thanh Mien) was tilled before Tet.

With floodwaters flooding, localities in the province have mobilized farmers to mobilize maximum manpower and machinery to prepare for early spring rice planting right after Tet.

According to the plan, farmers in the province will start planting early spring tea from February 1 (the 4th day of Tet). Currently, 269 hectares of seedlings for this tea planting are being fertilized and protected from the cold by farmers according to the instructions of the provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection.

The work of taking water to flood the remaining area and serve the newly planted rice area will continue to be carried out by the district-level Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprises from February 1 and possibly earlier.

From 0:00 on February 8 to 24:00 on February 14, Hoa Binh Hydropower Reservoir will continue to release water for the second time. Localities need to take advantage of this last release to pump and store water for rice cultivation and vegetable fertilization.

Experts warn that there may be some severe cold spells in early February. Farmers should not plant when the daily temperature drops below 15 degrees Celsius. Take proactive measures to care for and protect seedlings and newly planted rice according to instructions.
