According to the Hai Duong Irrigation Department, the water quality in the Bac Hung Hai system is currently satisfactory. However, the An Tho sluice gate in Ha Thanh commune (Tu Ky district) is closed, preventing water from being drawn upstream due to salinity in the surrounding river water.

For localities and units that draw water directly from the external river system, they should continue to make maximum use of high tides to draw and store water in the main canal system to serve the irrigation phase; they must regularly monitor salinity levels and saltwater intrusion at the water intake points from the external rivers to proactively draw water into the fields while ensuring quality.

Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation One-Member Limited Company closely monitors salinity levels at Cau Xe and An Tho sluices to operate the system appropriately. They proactively draw and store water in the system when conditions permit.

Hai Duong province will have two water release periods for irrigation to serve the 2023-2024 winter-spring planting season. The first period will be from 0:00 on January 23rd to 24:00 on January 28th (shortened by 2 days compared to the plan); the second period will be from 0:00 on February 18th to 24:00 on February 21st.
