Domestic and world silver prices edged up slightly amid low liquidity due to the 2025 New Year holiday.
In addition, expectations about the US Federal Reserve's (FED) interest rate policy also contributed to restraining silver's growth, when the FED is expected to make fewer interest rate cuts than expected in 2025.
Despite facing many fluctuations, silver prices are predicted by experts to increase sharply next year thanks to industrial demand and limited supply...
Industrial segments have played a major role in silver demand in recent years. As of November, the Silver Institute forecast total industrial demand of 702 million ounces of silver in 2024, up 7% from the 655 million ounces recorded in 2023. Much of the increase is expected to be driven by demand from energy conversion sectors, particularly photovoltaics.
However, these increases come with flat mine production, which is expected to rise just 1% to 837 million ounces in 2024. Secondary supply from recycling will push total silver supply to 1.03 billion ounces for the year, a significant difference from total demand of 1.21 billion ounces.
