Coffee is one of the four main crops of Dak Nong province. By 2024, Dak Nong will have about 142,059 hectares of coffee, with an output of 360,027 tons. Coffee is grown mostly in districts and Gia Nghia city.

To enhance the value of the coffee industry, Dak Nong province has established a high-tech coffee production area in Thuan An commune, Dak Mil district, with an area of 335 hectares. From 2021 to present, Dak Nong province has replanted 27,980 hectares of coffee, reaching 21.11% of the total coffee area of the province.

Dak Nong province has nearly 23,500 hectares meeting the standards: 4C, RA, VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic... with an output of over 82,000 tons/year; specialty coffee production is 225 hectares, with an output of 251 tons.

At the end of the most recent trading session, the price of Robusta coffee in London for September 2024 delivery increased by 22 USD/ton, at 4,913 USD/ton, and for November 2024 delivery increased by 6 USD/ton, at 4,682 USD/ton.

Arabica coffee prices for September 2024 delivery increased by 2.65 cents/lb to 248.05 cents/lb, and for December 2024 delivery increased by 1.95 cents/lb to 245.40 cents/lb.

Experts say the current market is very sensitive and easily affected by information related to weather and agricultural output.

Speculation has also contributed to the recent market volatility. Coffee prices have seen a sharp rise and fall in the past two weeks: a spike one week on drought concerns in Brazil, then a sharp drop after a bout of rain there.

According to Bloomberg, both Arabica and Robusta coffee prices rose after Typhoon Yagi hit Vietnam. However, the storm actually moved north and did not affect the Central Highlands region, which is the heart of Vietnam’s coffee growing region.
