According to Live Science , a piece of charred meteorite fell into the bedroom of Suzy Kop's family in Hopewell, New Jersey at 1 p.m. on May 8. The meteorite caused severe damage to the room but did not cause any casualties.
It came through the ceiling and landed in a corner of the bedroom. It looked like a metal bar about 6 inches wide. “I touched it because I thought it was just a rock… but it was warm,” Kop told CBS News.

Derrick Pitts, an astronomer at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, believes the meteorite could be between 4 and 5 billion years old. It could be debris from the Eta Aquarid meteor shower (which runs from April 19 to May 6 every year).
During its peak, Eta Aquarid can produce hundreds of "shooting stars" per hour - most of which burn up in the atmosphere.
According to NASA, these meteorites are rocky fragments created by Halley's comet, which usually flies past Earth every 75 to 79 years.
Many meteorites enter Earth's atmosphere, but most burn up before hitting the ground. This isn't the first time a meteorite has hit and caused damage.
According to American scientists , the meteorite that fell in Hopewell is estimated to be 4.6 billion years old and may be a fragment of Halley's comet.
