Many households selling Tet flowers in Da Lat city said that the current price of the new strain of chrysanthemum with the best quality is about 17,000 VND/bunch of 10 branches, and the cluster chrysanthemum is only 7,000 VND/bunch of 10 branches. This price is much lower than the same period in recent years. With this price, flower growers lose from 30 to 40 million VND per sao .

The number of people coming to the locality to buy wholesale gladiolus to sell for Tet has decreased sharply, causing households growing this type of flower to fall into a state of anxiety and worry.

Hiep An commune leaders said that this year, people planted about 195 hectares of gladiolus, 10 hectares of chrysanthemums and 8 hectares of other flowers. Compared to the same period last year, the area in the commune is basically stable, but the area of ​​encroachment tends to increase because people can grow their own seeds. In addition, the area of ​​neighboring districts and communes that have never grown gladiolus before is now growing more and more.

In Hiep An commune, flower prices have dropped sharply compared to previous years.

The flower area planted by people is spread evenly across the commune with main varieties such as French red, regular red, orange yellow, yellow... In which, some villages have large areas such as K'Long A, K'Long B and K'Long C villages. In addition to Hiep An commune, in neighboring areas such as Da Lat city, Don Duong district... people plant flowers to sell on the occasion of Lunar New Year, it is expected that over 60 hectares will be planted.

Some owners of a flower purchasing warehouse in Dinh An village, Hiep An commune said that gladiolus flowers on January 19 were only sold at the highest price of 1,800 VND/plant, only more than 50% compared to Tet 2024. With this selling price, for each sao of gladiolus, growers lost about 15 million VND.

Gladiolus prices drop near Lunar New Year, people are expected to suffer losses

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province, the area of ​​flowers planted to serve the market for the Lunar New Year 2025 in the province is about 3,800 hectares. Of which, the output of potted flowers for Tet is estimated at about 7 million pots, cut flowers supplied to the market during Tet is about 1.5 billion branches , mainly concentrated in Da Lat city, Don Duong, Duc Trong, Lac Duong districts and Lam Ha district.
