Gia Lai: People buy back and hand over rare animals

(GLO)- On September 28, Quy Nhon Nam Ward Police (Gia Lai Province) received a pangolin voluntarily handed over by Nguyen Thien Quang (born in 1998, temporarily residing at 306/29/23 Hoang Van Thu, Quy Nhon Nam Ward).

Earlier, at 2 o'clock the same day, Mr. Quang discovered some young men carrying a pangolin for sale. Realizing that this was a rare animal on the protected list, he spent 1 million VND to buy it and proactively brought it to the Quy Nhon Nam Ward Police.

The ward police have handed over this pangolin to the ward's Economic , Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Department, the Provincial Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, and the Tuy Phuoc-Quy Nhon Regional Forest Protection Department to complete care procedures and return it to a natural conservation area according to regulations.

Quy Nhon Nam Ward Police said that Nguyen Thien Quang's voluntary handover of rare wild animals is a beautiful and commendable act that has a widespread meaning in the community. This action contributes to raising awareness and responsibility of each citizen for the protection of wild animals and biodiversity.

With the above action, Quy Nhon Nam Ward Police also sent a document requesting the Chairman of the Ward People's Committee to reward citizen Nguyen Thien Quang.
