Gia Lai: Nearly 5 tons of rotten pig skin discovered at sausage facility

The market management force and economic police in Gia Lai recently coordinated and suddenly inspected a sausage production facility in Quy Nhon ward (Gia Lai province), discovering nearly 5 tons of rotten, discolored pig skin.

On September 18, the Market Management Department of Gia Lai province had a quick report on the inspection work at the sausage production facility of Gia Quy Business Household (No. 842-844 Tran Hung Dao, Quy Nhon Ward, Gia Lai Province).

Authorities discovered nearly 100 plastic barrels containing rotten pig skin.

Previously, on September 17, the Market Management Department of Gia Lai province coordinated with the Economic Police Department (Provincial Police) and relevant agencies to inspect Gia Quy sausage production facility.

At the time of inspection, the facility was trading the following products: 1.4 tons of special Gia Quy sausage; 1.1 tons of Gia Quy sausage type 1 and 700kg of unpackaged Gia Quy sausage type 1.

All of these sausages are produced at the facility, using pork thighs and pork fat with accompanying value-added invoices.

Pig skins purchased from many sources, stored in barrels emitting a foul smell

Notably, authorities discovered 4.9 tons of pig skin contained in 98 green plastic drums that were emitting a foul odor and had changed color.

The owner of the facility could not provide documents and origin of pork products.

Working with the authorities, the business owner could not present invoices, vouchers, or documents proving the origin. According to the confession, the pigskin was purchased from many sources on the market.

Thereby, the inspection team took samples of the above sausages and raw materials for appraisal, as a basis for handling according to regulations.
