
Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai, Commander of Military Region 5, and leaders of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee chaired a conference to deploy prevention, control and response work to storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi).
Currently, storm No. 13 is moving rapidly inland, potentially directly affecting Gia Lai province with complex developments. To proactively respond, more than 4,300 officers and soldiers from units of the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 5 in the province, along with nearly 300 vehicles of all kinds, have been mobilized, ready to move in case of any situation.
The units maintained 100% of their personnel on duty, regularly stayed close to the area, coordinated with local authorities to mobilize and be ready to evacuate 36,806 households with 126,058 people in areas at risk of landslides and deep flooding to safe places. Along with that, the authorities called on 5,197 ships/36,379 fishermen to safe shelters. Currently, 575 ships/4,025 fishermen operating at sea are being guided to move away from the danger zone.
Gia Lai Provincial Military Command has established 3 temporary command posts and 5 mobile teams ready to participate in search and rescue missions in all directions; at the same time, ensuring adequate logistics, technical work, food reserves, and provisions to ensure 7 days of food for forces participating in responding to and overcoming the consequences of the storm.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai requested agencies and units to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the telegrams of the Prime Minister , the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 5; closely maintain the information system and on-duty regime at all levels. At the same time, closely monitor the storm's developments, well implement the "4 on-site" motto, closely coordinate with functional forces, and be ready to effectively handle situations when the storm makes landfall.
Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai emphasized that the circulation after the storm is likely to cause heavy to very heavy rain, high risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas, widespread flooding in riverside, stream and low-lying areas. The Commander of the Military Region requested the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command to coordinate with relevant agencies to step up propaganda, instruct people on storm prevention; review and inspect high-risk areas; support people in tying and shoring up houses, evacuating to safe places, minimizing damage caused by the storm.
