Pepper price today May 15 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on May 14 (local time) as follows:

Indonesia's Lampung black pepper price fell sharply compared to yesterday at $7,238/ton (down 1.16%). In addition, Muntok white pepper price increased slightly compared to yesterday at $9,963/ton (up 0.45%).

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,200/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained stable from yesterday at $11,900/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of 500 gr/l black pepper in Vietnam reached 6,700 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,800 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700/ton.

Domestic pepper prices today are generally stable, with no major fluctuations recorded. Consumption demand remains steady, while post-harvest supply is somewhat limited. This is expected to support a slight increase in pepper prices in the coming time. However, experts say the market still lacks clear momentum to create a strong increase.

In the world market, pepper prices fluctuated quite erratically from session to session. Investors’ cautiousness increased due to many unfavorable factors such as harsh weather and weak demand in some areas. Some markets maintained stable prices, but others recorded a clear downward trend.

Faced with these complex developments, many domestic traders and investors are choosing to wait. The restriction on purchasing and hoarding is to monitor further signals from the international market to make appropriate decisions.

However, according to experts, global pepper demand remains stable, which is a positive factor that helps keep domestic prices from fluctuating too much. However, in the context of exports not really breaking through, pepper prices are likely to continue to move sideways or only fluctuate slightly within a narrow range.

Speaking to the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Hoang Phuoc Binh, former Permanent Vice President of the Chu Se Pepper Association, said that the Chinese market is still buying but the quantity is not large. They only import enough for immediate needs, due to the impact of the domestic economic situation, import-export procedures and the policy of controlling prices by buying in moderation.

However, according to Mr. Binh, pepper prices in China are currently about 20,000 to 30,000 VND/kg higher than in Vietnam. This shows that in the coming time, China may be forced to increase imports to meet domestic demand.

Mr. Binh also added that when some markets show signs of increased purchases, domestic and export pepper prices will be pushed up.
