World gold price today April 28, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:00 p.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 3,284.31 USD/ounce. Today's gold price did not change compared to yesterday but decreased by 23.75 USD/ounce compared to last week. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,170 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 104.69 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 14.81 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
World gold prices fell as US-China trade tensions showed signs of easing, making investors more confident in other assets such as stocks and commodity exchanges and reducing demand for gold.
In addition, the rising US dollar also added pressure, making gold more expensive for foreign buyers. Gold futures for June delivery on the US market fell 0.1% to $3,302.30.
According to Tim Waterer, market analyst at KCM Trade, financial markets are taking a more positive view on the tariff outlook than they did in the first week of April. Recent statements from the White House have led many to expect that the US and China could reach an agreement, leading to a decrease in demand for gold.
US President Donald Trump said the two countries are negotiating tariffs. Last week, the Trump administration expressed its willingness to de-escalate the trade war between the world’s two largest economies. China has also exempted some US goods from import tariffs, but denied that talks were taking place.
Gold is often seen as a hedge against economic or political uncertainty and has an advantage in a low-interest-rate environment. However, at the spring meetings of the IMF and World Bank, many said the Trump administration was still conflicted in its demands for tariffed trading partners.
This week, the market will pay attention to some important US economic data such as the employment report (Tuesday), personal consumption expenditure (Wednesday) and non-farm report (Friday). These figures can influence the Federal Reserve's policy forecast.
Besides gold, silver prices fell 0.9% to $32.8 an ounce, while platinum prices remained at $971.29. Palladium prices also fell 0.7% to $942.15.
Gold Price Forecast
Silver prices are currently being heavily impacted by general market volatility, but have generally remained more stable than gold prices, according to financial expert Muhammad Umair from FX Empire.
In the long term, expert James Hyerczyk from FX Empire also commented that the attraction of silver will increase. According to the latest report of the Silver Institute, in 2025, the silver supply is expected to be short by about 117 million ounces. This will be the fifth consecutive year that the silver market is undersupplied compared to demand.
James Hyerczyk believes that a prolonged reduction in silver supply, especially due to demand for silver in green energy projects, will support silver prices to remain stable even when the market is volatile.
Meanwhile, a Kitco News gold survey found Wall Street experts are bearish, with 54% predicting lower prices, while only 46% expect higher prices. Some analysts warn that the recent surge in gold prices may be coming to an end.
Jesse Colombo, an independent gold analyst, said that the correction in gold prices last week was normal and healthy. According to him, gold prices will consolidate throughout the summer and likely remain around the $3,000/ounce support level. He also affirmed that this is just a temporary correction in the long-term uptrend of gold, and he himself will not sell any of the gold bars he holds.
Kelvin Wong, senior market analyst at Oanda, shared a positive view that the gold rally is not over yet. He said that if the trade talks between the US and China continue to be deadlocked and if the US imposes new tariffs on many industries, the possibility of US economic instability will increase. This could weaken the US dollar and push gold prices higher.
According to Kelvin Wong, in the short term, the next resistance level for gold prices will be between $3,670 and $3,750 per ounce. If this level is broken, gold prices could advance further to the $3,890 per ounce area.
