World oil prices

Specifically, WTI oil price increased by 0.70 USD/barrel, reaching 63.05 USD/barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil price increased sharply by 2.66 USD/barrel, reaching 65.48 USD/barrel.

The move to delay the imposition of tariffs has eased trade tensions and raised hopes for negotiations, helping oil prices recover after a series of sharp declines. However, the market is still under pressure from the risk of oversupply and geopolitical instability. President Trump's continued increase in tariffs of up to 125% on Chinese goods, along with Beijing's response of 84%, has further dimmed the global trade outlook. The European Union also imposed a 25% tariff on imports from the US, raising concerns about a wider trade war.

In addition, OPEC+’s plan to increase production by more than 400,000 barrels per day in May is weighing on oil prices, amid rising US crude inventories. However, OPEC+ may consider postponing the increase if market volatility continues. A temporary support factor for oil prices is the oil spill that temporarily shut down the Keystone pipeline connecting Canada and the US. However, experts warn that the current rally in oil prices remains unstable due to concerns about a global economic recession.
