Mr. Tran Quang Lam - Director of the Department of Transport and Public Works of Ho Chi Minh City spoke at the launching event of the Electronic Ticket System and Multipass card. |
Following the success of deploying the cashless payment system on metro line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), Sacombank continues to accompany the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport to expand the open-loop payment model to the entire city bus system. This is a modern payment solution, allowing passengers to use a variety of payment methods such as bank cards, e-wallets, Apple Pay/Samsung Pay/QR code/... to pay for travel needs with just one touch.

Currently, Mastercard and Visa cardholders issued by any domestic or foreign bank can pay for bus rides via POS machines located on the bus. It is expected that in May 2025, the system will continue to expand to accept NAPAS, JCB, UnionPay and American Express cards.
This is Sacombank's next step in its journey to accompany Ho Chi Minh City in building modern payment solutions that are synchronized with the public transport system. This system aims to form a multi-modal transport "ecosystem", from metro, bus, water bus, electric buggy to public bicycles.
Delegates perform the "tap" ceremony of MultiPass card to officially introduce the electronic ticket system for public transport to the city's residents. |
Not only does it provide a convenient, seamless and economical travel experience, the system also contributes to promoting people to gradually shift from personal vehicles to public transport, towards a green, modern and sustainably developed urban area.
The application of the electronic ticket system also helps optimize the operating process, reduce the need to print paper tickets or plastic cards, and significantly reduce the amount of waste from traditional tickets, helping to save natural resources and limit pollution. The transition to a cashless model is also in line with the direction of developing the digital economy and promoting environmentally responsible consumption.
Delegates introduced Sacombank Mastercard MultiPass - a payment card line with special incentives for passengers using public transport. |
At the event, Sacombank also introduced the Mastercard MultiPass, a payment card line with special incentives for customers using public transport. With the MultiPass card, users enjoy many incentives such as bus travel at a uniform price of only VND5,000/trip, metro line 1 tickets with a maximum price of VND10,000/trip. In addition, when paying for bus tickets with MultiPass, cardholders also receive an additional 5% discount. These are practical incentives to encourage people to switch to green, economical and safe forms of transportation.
At the same time, aiming at the student segment, Sacombank plans to implement a 50% discount on bus fares for students. Especially in the first month of implementation, cardholders will also enjoy a special offer of 100% refund of bus ticket payments. Customers can choose to open a physical or non-physical card on the Sacombank Pay and Multigo applications this April.
