Previously, Ms. Nong Thi Tuyen, owner of a small restaurant in market B, Con Minh commune, only cooked simple dishes to serve regular customers, her family's income was enough to cover living expenses.
In 2024, Ms. Tuyen joined a cooking class organized by the Women's Union. After the course, she gained more knowledge and skills in preparing dishes. Thanks to that, the restaurant's menu is more diverse, the dishes are delicious and hygienic, the number of customers is increasing, and the family's income has improved significantly.
Ms. Nong Thi Tuyen shared: By taking the cooking class, I learned how to prepare many new dishes, focusing more on quality and service style... Therefore, the restaurant has more customers, and income has increased significantly compared to before.
Recently, Cho Moi Vocational Education Center - Continuing Education in collaboration with Tan Ky Commune People's Committee opened 4 short-term vocational training classes for rural workers. Trainees were equipped with knowledge and practical skills in fields such as: forestry, animal husbandry... The activity is part of the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas (DTTS). and mountainous areas, aiming to improve skills, create jobs and increase income for people.
Ms. Do Thi Tuyet, Na Chang village, Tan Ky commune, said: Participating in the class helps us know how to prevent and treat diseases in chickens, effectively applying it to our family's farming model to increase income.
Mr. Be Manh Hung, Director of Cho Moi Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center, informed: Before opening classes, the Center surveys the actual needs of workers in each locality. From there, it selects content and occupations that are suitable for the production conditions and strengths of each region. The goal is to help people gain knowledge and vocational skills that can be applied immediately in practice, increase labor productivity, improve income and stabilize life.
At Thai Nguyen Vocational College, vocational training is also being implemented systematically. The school is currently organizing intermediate vocational classes for the 2025-2027 term at 3 campuses and 2 vocational education and continuing education centers, with nearly 800 students studying practical majors such as food processing, industrial electricity, information technology, fashion sewing... These majors closely follow the needs of the labor market, helping students have suitable job opportunities after graduation.
Trieu Thi Vy, a student in the culinary class, shared: I love cooking so I chose to study this major. During the course, the lecturers guided me on how to choose ingredients, prepare, present... Thanks to the systematic learning, I am more confident in my skills and hope that after graduating, I will work in restaurants and hotels to gain experience and strive to become a professional chef.
Over the years, Thai Nguyen province has always prioritized investment resources for vocational education and job creation for ethnic minority workers. The province has effectively used capital from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction; the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2025 period to support vocational training, short-term vocational training, propaganda, counseling, and career guidance for people.
In the 2021-2025 period, from the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the province has allocated more than 216 billion VND for vocational education development projects, creating sustainable jobs in disadvantaged areas, focusing on supporting short-term vocational training for workers from poor, near-poor and newly escaped poverty households.
For the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, departments and branches have organized nearly 600 short-term vocational training classes for rural workers; more than 150 consultation and propaganda conferences for ethnic minority workers who want to work abroad under contract.
In addition, the province organized language training classes for nearly 150 workers preparing to go to Korea; and improved consulting and career guidance skills for vocational teachers. Through training programs, the skills and application capacity of rural workers were improved, many people had stable jobs, and their incomes were increasingly improved.
Reality shows that promoting vocational education and job creation for workers in ethnic minority and mountainous areas is a correct and practical policy, demonstrating the concern of the Party, State and local authorities for people's lives.
Vocational training classes have helped workers gain more knowledge and skills to apply in production, increase income and stabilize their lives. This activity not only has economic significance but also contributes to promoting labor restructuring and sustainable development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Thai Nguyen province.
