The award is increasingly spreading and receiving the support of many influential reporters.

The parade to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory is a big event with profound political significance. To work well in the event, we must fully report on it to meet the high propaganda requirements of the People's Army Newspaper.

When assigned tasks, I, like other comrades, shared the same determination to try our best to complete the task. Along with that was careful preparation in researching the working location, travel plan, means of transport, methods of travel, looking at photos from previous times, and determining the routes when the parade passed through Dien Bien city.

Participated from the preparation stage, practice sessions, joint training at the National Military Training Center 4 (Mieu Mon, Hanoi) to the preliminary rehearsals, general rehearsals and the official ceremony. This was an advantage, along with that, I was also familiar with the Dien Bien province so I was proactive in using my vehicle to move quickly, maximizing the content of the event.

On the day of the ceremony, many streets in the city were closed, so all of us reporters left very early to get to the stadium area. I left my motorbike behind the stadium, 2 blocks away. After finishing taking photos in the stadium, I quickly brought my equipment to get my motorbike to move towards the roundabout at the foot of the Dien Bien Phu victory monument. At that time, I had to go through the small streets that were not closed, a distance of about 1.5km to welcome the parade when passing the foot of the monument.

After the group passed here, I continued back on the old road, around behind the stadium, continued through the city, turned to the main road 7/5 to pick up the group at the last stop, the total distance traveled was about 5km.

People were already standing here, standing in large numbers on both sides of the road, pulling out loudspeakers and water to invite the soldiers, thus capturing many beautiful images of the special feelings of Dien Bien people towards the forces participating in the parade.

In my opinion, for every journalist, the important thing is the responsible attitude towards the job as a photojournalist and the opportunities given to them when working at major events.

You have to constantly practice your photography skills and techniques, take a lot of different photos so that when you are in a situation or event, you can create good works that are different and unique compared to other reporters working together. And a little bit of luck, when at that right time, those people and capture that moment.

As for the “Press Moment” Photo Award, I think this is a specialized press award for photojournalists, a press award whose name itself speaks of the most characteristic of photography, which is “Moment”. This is a playground held at the end of the year, summarizing a year of work, thus gathering many high-quality works of the year… creating a great influence and receiving the active participation of many photojournalists and photographers.

Being honored at the award ceremony, I think it is a great motivation for the authors to continue working, researching, and creating more vivid and authentic journalistic works, closely related to social life and the development of the country. Along with that, through the organization, the Organizing Committee of the Press Moments Photo Award has made many efforts in receiving works, judging, and selecting works to award prizes.

The work "Nhat Tan peach garden was wiped out after the flood", journalist Nguyen Giang Nam - To Quoc electronic newspaper

Visual thinking as well as thematic thinking is required.

In the process of writing stories about storms and floods, especially the recent storm No. 3, I regularly contacted and updated the latest information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. Along with that, I followed information from many sources, including on social networks, then synthesized and came up with directions for exploiting the topic, avoiding duplication with existing information.

In addition, I also deduced that when the Red River water level rises, which place will be most seriously affected. From there, I followed that direction of the article.

Regarding the work "Nhat Tan peach garden was "erased" after the flood", as soon as I realized that Nhat Tan area was heavily affected by the rising river water, I tried to move out as soon as possible. However, the rain was quite heavy and some roads were flooded, so it was quite difficult to move. When I arrived, the water was still quite deep, so I had to use a flycam to fly up to get the most realistic images from above.

I was also quite daring when using a flycam to fly in the rain, but in return I got some satisfactory pictures. After reporting on the flooding, I also returned when the water receded to record what was left after the big flood and how the people overcame it. Looking at the bare peach gardens that could no longer be saved was really sad when the peach villagers lost billions of dong in peach money…

For every photojournalist, it is always necessary to have a calm look at things and events as well as quick thinking to make accurate judgments to be able to record moments that only come once. Equipment is also a part of that.

As someone once said, to have good works, you need experience and practice to cultivate a solid foundation in visual thinking as well as thinking about topics that attract viewers...
