The exhibition displays more than 30 works from 14 young authors, including authors who are students of domestic art schools.

Among them, a number of authors and works were highly appreciated by the professional council of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association for their ideas, techniques and language expressed through the lens of generation Z.

Some woodcuts and oil paintings explore and research Vietnamese life practices to express the spirit of life in the new era.

Hyo Lynn Yi said she had been planning this project since March 2023 and it took her 5 months to complete the exhibition. Although it was her first exhibition, Lynn applied many techniques from international experts.

“Before setting up the exhibition, I attended a course called Art Handling. There, I learned how to install visual works from Indonesian experts and applied technical information and parameters.

From labeling the artwork, changing the light bulbs, fixing the images with metal wires, and painting the walls, these techniques are all there," said curator Hyo Lynn Yi.

At the exhibition, artist Luong Xuan Doan - Chairman of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association commented that this is a well-organized exhibition with expertise in selecting works, introducing many young artists with potential in the future.

"Young people have the right to think differently and feel differently about contemporary society. However, deep inside there is still the Vietnamese soul and culture, that is how you "shock" with your works. This is the luck of contemporary Vietnamese fine arts, which even we cannot know," artist Luong Xuan Doan expressed.

What is special about Defiant vision is that 30% of the profits from the works displayed and auctioned at the exhibition will be donated to support the "Rescue Appeal - rescue victims of human trafficking" program of the Blue Dragon Foundation.

Curator Hyo Lynn Yi excitedly said that on the opening day of the exhibition, 8 works were ordered. This is a positive sign.

Hyo Lynn Yi believes that art has long had a positive impact on society, so the combination of charity and art has taken place a lot in many countries. For example, charity concerts.

She herself had this experience at her annual high school art exhibition and donated the proceeds to children in Cambodia.

"With Defiant vision, I want to create a space for young artists to have the opportunity to participate and develop in art.

At the same time, I hope that young people will have the opportunity to use their artistic and creative talents to make meaningful contributions to solving social problems. What could be more meaningful than developing artistic ability along with a sense of responsibility to society," Hyo Lynn Yi expressed.

The exhibition is open from 9am to 4pm daily from July 30 to August 2, 2023 at the Center for Contemporary Art - Vietnam Fine Arts Association, 621 De La Thanh, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.
