Southeast Asian kite art exchange in Hue

TTH.VN - On the afternoon of June 3, the Hue International Kite Festival 2023 with the participation of many Southeast Asian countries was opened. Activities of artistic kite flying exchange, exhibition and kite making experience will take place from June 3 to June 9 within the framework of the Summer Festival of Hue Festival 2023.

The Hue International Kite Festival 2023 is held to promote and preserve the art of kite making and kite flying, and to form and develop a new cultural - artistic - tourism festival in Thua Thien Hue in the summer. The program displays 120 kites of various types including: dragon kites, phoenixes, peacocks, hawks, crows, swallows, roosters, butterflies and goldfish.

The program also has a kite making experience activity “Childhood kites” at Tu Tuong Park for children. In particular, the festival will have an artistic kite flying exchange program at 3-6 pm at Ngo Mon Square (June 4-5 and June 8); Thuan An beach (June 6-7) with the participation of international guest kite clubs: Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand; with the host being the Hue kite artisan group and domestic kite clubs: Golden Kite Restaurant Club (Nam Dinh), Phoenix Art Kite Club and Sunflower Kite Club ( Ho Chi Minh City).

At the opening ceremony of the festival, Mr. Ho Dang Long, Deputy Director of Hue Festival Center, said that the kite festival aims to contribute to preserving and promoting Hue's kite-making tradition, while attracting tourists, creating a playground and opportunity for those who love the "art of aerial puppetry". The 2023 Hue International Kite Festival brings together artisans representing the Kite Associations of Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, kite clubs from provinces and cities in the country and Hue to participate in a series of kite-flying performances, displays and kite-making experiences. This is also an opportunity for local, domestic and international artisans to meet, exchange, learn from experiences, improve their expertise and introduce their country's cultural identity to the cultures of countries around the world.
