Parents accompany their children in class with Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc
Every class, every way to sow love
Having been involved in the Special Education industry since 2009, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc - a teacher of Early Intervention Class 2 at the School for Children with Disabilities, still holds in her heart a complete love for the profession and for her "special" students for more than 15 years.
“Each student here has their own story, a destiny that needs to be protected and supported. We cannot teach according to a common curriculum like normal students, but must depend on the age and ability of each student to have different ways of communication. Sometimes I have to hold each child’s hand, guiding them from the smallest things like how to hold a pen, name an object, or practice saying a simple word,” Ms. Truc shared.
The students in Ms. Truc’s early intervention class are only 3-4 years old, most of them are slow to speak, autistic or have mild intellectual disabilities. Each lesson is a long and challenging journey. For her, those seemingly small improvements are a big step forward, a “miracle” created by the perseverance and efforts of both her and her students.
In that journey, there is always the companionship and support of parents. Every day, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu Ngoc - mother of baby HAK (4 years old), travels nearly 40km from Thanh Hoa commune to take her child to school. For more than a year, rain or shine, she has never missed a single class of her child. "I have taken my child to school since he was 3 years old. Every day, seeing my child progress a little bit, I feel extremely happy, all the hardships seem to disappear" - Ms. Ngoc said emotionally.
For Ms. Ngoc, her child's progress is the result of a journey of companionship between family and school. In class, the teacher patiently corrects each gesture and each sound, and when home, the parents continue to practice with their child. It is this attachment and patience that has opened up small but hopeful changes, gradually helping the child integrate into life.
A place where hope is nurtured

Ms. Nguyen Nu Anh Dao carefully tutors each student in class 1A3-TT (a group of students with intellectual disabilities).
Ms. Nguyen Nu Anh Dao - homeroom teacher of Special Class 1A3-TT, in charge of the group of students with intellectual disabilities, was previously an elementary school teacher. In 2018, she transferred to the School for Children with Disabilities and began her journey of spreading knowledge and faith to the less fortunate "green shoots".
In the early days, she was confused and bewildered when interacting with and teaching special students. “There were students who did not speak, did not look, and even reacted violently when strangers approached. I had to learn to listen, observe and be patient little by little,” Ms. Dao shared.
With love and dedication, she constantly learns from her colleagues and attends many training courses on methods of educating children with disabilities. “Every time I see my children make progress, even if it is just saying a word, writing a letter, etc., I feel that is the motivation for me to continue trying to accompany them,” Ms. Dao confided.
Currently, her class has 12 students, most of whom are slow to speak, have language disorders, and are hyperactive. The curriculum is designed according to the framework of the Ministry of Education and Training , but is simplified and adjusted to suit each student's ability. Each student is a world of their own, requiring teachers to be patient and flexible in each teaching method and each word.
For Ms. Dao, it is the timely encouragement and sharing of her colleagues that gives her the confidence to stick with the special education profession. It is impossible to tell all the difficulties and hardships that Ms. Truc, Ms. Dao and many other teachers are diligently overcoming every day. For them, the greatest joy is when students know how to take care of themselves, know how to love, know how to share. Every smile, every hug, every progress of a student is a priceless gift.
According to the Principal of Huynh Dang Quang School for Children with Disabilities, in the 2025-2026 school year, the school has nearly 290 students with more than 20 groups of classes, including 3 early intervention classes and 17 specialized classes. Each group of classes is built according to its own program, suitable for the abilities and needs of each child. In addition to the main curriculum, the school especially focuses on integrating life skills training activities, such as communication, problem solving, self-service as well as experiential activities related to reality, to help children confidently integrate into the community.
“We keep in regular contact with families to understand the psychology and circumstances of each child, and at the same time agree on educational methods. Parents are regularly guided on how to coordinate with teachers to support children in practicing skills and developing cognition. The love and patience of teachers are important factors in helping students overcome their inferiority complex and confidently integrate into the community,” said Mr. Huynh Dang Quang.
Although the work is still very difficult, from specific lesson plans to psychological pressure, with dedication and sympathy, the teachers here still quietly light up faith, sow seeds of hope for the "crescent moons", helping them realize that, despite their shortcomings, each child can still shine in their own way./.
