Singer of Hanoi Voice: "Because of my troubled love life, I like sad music"

(Dan Tri) - Born into a happy family, growing up in the dreamy Da Lat, but singer Khanh Thy admits that it was the stumbles in love that helped her find herself through profound love songs.

On October 23, at the launch of her new album , singer Khanh Thy, the third prize winner of the 2023 Hanoi Singing Contest, shared about her family, hometown, and the hidden corners of a woman's soul.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, singer Khanh Thy confided: “I was born into a quite happy family, my mother was loved and pampered by my father to the point that she rarely had to cook. My mother often joked that she had to practice for many lifetimes to meet my father (laughs).

I still remember the times when my father and I were riding the motorbike, I fell asleep on the back and my father still held me with one hand, to take me to art school. All of that is deeply imprinted in my mind and greatly influenced my personality and music later on."

Born into a loving family, Khanh Thy inherited the warmth from her parents and grandparents - who always respected, cared for and loved each other. That is what made her always wish to have a perfect love like them.

However, Khanh Thy admits that her love life has not always been smooth. “I have had a rough time in love, and perhaps this is the reason why I sing sad songs,” the singer confided.

According to Khanh Thy, a person’s emotions, especially those of an artist, are formed from many factors, which can originate from emotional experiences in a few relationships. Those things have helped her accumulate more emotions and deeper contemplation in both life and music.

“I have a very passionate and eager heart. I always want to do things that others think I cannot do,” Khanh Thy said.

Part of that emotion also comes from the living environment. Born and raised in Da Lat, Khanh Thy said the city of thousands of flowers has left a deep mark on her musical path.

“Da Lat has beautiful landscapes, the weather is like early winter in Hanoi, the people are gentle and friendly. That city is also the place where many great artists left their mark. All of these have become a source of inspiration, strongly influencing my music,” the female singer expressed.

Therefore, the album Khanh Thy Vol.2 is not only a collection of profound lyrical songs, but according to the female singer, also carries within it "something very Dalat".

At the album launch, People's Artist Ha Thuy - the teacher who has accompanied and inspired Khanh Thy - commented that the female singer is a girl rich in emotions and straightforward in expressing her feelings. When facing events or changes in life, she often reacts very sincerely, sometimes somewhat impulsively, but that is a natural, precious trait of youth.

“I think that what Khanh Thy expresses, from her way of life to her way of singing, all come from true feelings. Maybe in the past, when she had little experience, she acted and sang completely on instinct. But it is the stumbles, happiness or suffering, success or failure in life that have made Khanh Thy's voice become much more mature and profound,” People's Artist Ha Thuy shared.

Khanh Thy won third prize in the 2023 Hanoi Singing Contest and quickly made her mark with her emotional performance style.

With a clear, deep voice and her own style, she gradually affirmed her position in the hearts of the audience.

In 2024, the female singer released her debut album , "Yes, I'm Getting Married" , marking the beginning of her professional music journey.
