Artist Phuong Binh and his son - director Nguyen Hoang Phuc
On the evening of October 23, at the graduation performance report of students majoring in stage directing at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema at the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Drama Theater, the audience cheered enthusiastically when artist Phuong Binh stepped onto the stage to receive a beautiful flower given by his son, student Nguyen Hoang Phuc.
Not every graduation play makes the audience stay until the last minute with a feeling of both sadness and warmth, but the play "Midnight Song" - the graduation play of student director Nguyen Hoang Phuc, Stage Directing class K-3B, did just that.
Under the dedicated guidance of People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau and lecturer of the People's Artist Giang Manh Ha department, along with the humane script of author Huynh Ngan, the play became a profound tribute to the efforts of Nguyen Hoang Phuc.

Phuong Binh was touched by the audience's affection for his son.
The central character Dien is a symbol of the ordinary artistic workers: backstage workers, porters, and set cleaners in a theater troupe.
He had a passionate love for the singer Ngoc Lan, but that love led him to the tragedy of his life and his delusional disease made him fall into the very injustice of his life.

Because of the lack of love from his family and an unhappy childhood, Dien lost his way. But on the path of trying to find himself, he contracted a cruel disease.
The message of the play made the audience silent, a professional graduation play with the participation of many experienced artists and a young cast who are very serious about their artistic work.
They, along with Nguyen Hoang Phuc, carved into the audience's minds the anguish, the laughter, the anxiety, and then burst out with him in the unexpected ending.

The play was selected by the Ho Chi Minh City Small Stage Drama Theater to be included in the performance schedule of "5B" and Nguyen Hoang Phuc's crew brought a well-prepared, professional and artistic graduation report.
The creative team includes: In the play, the audience will hear again the famous songs: "Hoa Trinh Nu", "Chuyen Hen Do" (musician Tran Thien Thanh) and "Mong Chieu Xuan" (Ngoc Bich) - nostalgic songs, mixed with Dien's tragic story, creating an emotional sound space.
The roles of Phuong Binh, Ngoc Lan, Trong Hieu, Vu Phi Nga, Minh Dang, Kieu Ngan, Huynh Thien Trung, Huynh Nhu, Dinh Duy, Phuong Nguyen, Thuong Thinh, Quoc Cuong, Hong Cong, Khoa Dang, Hoang Tu... and young actors brought rich nuances to a play that seemed simple but contained many layers of meaning.

Phuong Binh hopes her child will be serious about his career.
The most valuable thing in the play "Midnight Song" is the staging technique with a stage structure suitable for performance in auditorium 5B, which clearly shows the attitude of young people towards the profession.
A graduation play but containing a professional spirit, structure, visual thinking, and most importantly, a heart for the profession. That is the most precious thing for a young director.
Nguyen Hoang Phuc, although a recent graduate, has been "on stage" for many years.
He was associated with Dong Au Bach Long and "5B" in many different roles, sometimes as a sound engineer, sometimes backstage, so these two stages gave him many lessons and experiences.
Artist Phuong Binh was touched by the affection that friends, colleagues and teachers had for his son.
