On the morning of December 9, artist Kim Cuong was stunned when she heard the news of artist Thuong Tin’s passing. To her, he was a colleague, a younger brother who had been with her for a while on stage at the Kim Cuong Drama Troupe. She had witnessed the ups and downs of his artistic life.
Artist Kim Cuong bids farewell to Thuong Tin, a close co-star
Unable to hide her emotions, "I lost another handsome actor, a good co-star on the Kim Cuong stage... After artist Van Hung and then artist Nguyen Chanh Tin, now Thuong Tin has left me... Every time I hear the news, my heart falls" - she choked up and shared.
In the final days of artist Thuong Tin’s life, upon hearing that he was seriously ill, People’s Artist Kim Cuong did not sit still. She proactively sought a resting place for him—just as she had arranged the funerals of many other lonely artists.
"I just hope that in the end, he will have a decent place to rest, in the true sense of an artist," she said. But when she learned that his family decided to take him back to Phan Rang, his hometown, to take care of his funeral, she felt relieved: "Returning to his homeland, with his family taking care of everything... that is also his blessing."

A golden age on the theater stage
In the memory of People's Artist Kim Cuong, Thuong Tin is always a handsome, calm actor whose eyes lit up the entire audience every time he stepped onto the stage.
At Kim Cuong Drama Troupe, he and she created unforgettable artistic couples through a series of plays: "Durian Leaves", "Spring Wedding", "Thunderstorm", "Tanhia", "Return to the Old Roof", "Lady of the Camellias", "Mother's Legend", "Rose Pinned on the Lapel", "The Abyss of Height"...
She recounted that their last performance was the play "Lady of the Camellias", in which artist Thuong Tin transformed into Tuan - a man who dared to give up fame and position to live fully for love. "She played the role of Tuan very beautifully, a very real beauty, very manly... A performance I will never forget" - she said with her eyes blurred.
On stage, she and he were a pair of actors who worked in harmony like breathing. In real life, she considered him a close brother, a talented artist but with a stormy life.
The last moment that People's Artist Kim Cuong remembers Thuong Tin
People's Artist Kim Cuong always remembers the roles of the late Artist Thuong Tin.
She said that in 2022, he came to receive a gift in the "Intimate Artist" program organized by her. The handsome and charming actor of the 80s and 90s of the last century was now just a thin, quiet and tired figure. "Looking at him makes my heart ache... I don't recognize the old Thuong Tin anymore" - she shared.
Then his phone calls to her—both tired and desperate. "Sister... save me... I'm in such a difficult situation..." Every time she heard them, she felt heartbroken: the life of an artist is sometimes so glamorous that people forget that behind the stage are vulnerable people.
"I remember most when I organized the program "Tireless Birds" for HTV, I invited Thuong Tin to play the role of my father-in-law in the play "Tra Hoa Nu", and Bao Anh played the role of Tuan. At that time, I was afraid that Thuong Tin would be sad, but on the contrary, he was very excited and said: "For a long time, I have been your actor, now I get to play your father-in-law, I am so happy"... So in that performance, Thuong Tin played the role of the old actor very successfully. Oh, mentioning this makes me sad, because Bao Anh also left me and passed away last year" - she cried again.
A farewell: A dead man is a dead man
For People's Artist Kim Cuong, the passing of artist Thuong Tin is the loss of another colleague who was once a very good actor and the loss of a part of her stage memories, a piece of the golden age that she keeps in her heart.
She appreciates what he has contributed: from stage to cinema, from classic male and female roles to the image of an actor who was once considered an idol by millions of female audiences.
Then she slowly said, as if saying a farewell: "For me, a son is a son. I send you off like a beloved and talented colleague. Thuong Tin has left an indelible mark on stage and cinema. Although your life has had its ups and downs, the audience and your colleagues will remember you... remember a Thuong Tin who was very stylish on stage and on screen, who acted very masculine and talented."
In her old age, People's Artist Kim Cuong has witnessed too many departures of colleagues with no return date. Each time was a silent pain, but she still stood there, preserving the artist's friendship as a legacy.
Today, she quietly lit an incense stick: Farewell to a younger brother. Farewell to a handsome actor of the Kim Cuong Drama Theater.
