The quiet funeral and the heartbreaking words from Thuong Tin's 90-year-old mother

The funeral of actor Thuong Tin in his hometown of Phan Rang was not only empty of visitors but also unusually quiet.

After a period of treatment, actor Thuong Tin passed away at 6:50 p.m. on December 8, at the age of 69.

Thuong Tin's funeral took place in a small house on Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Phan Rang Ward, Khanh Hoa .

Present since 4am, musician To Hieu told VietNamNet that he wanted to help Thuong Tin's family with the funeral, "helping out" the actor one last time as well as sharing with his son, Thanh Tung.

Thuong Tin's relatives held a small funeral with about 4 tables of food, simple in form. Starting at 8am this morning, the funeral was quite quiet, only a few people came to pay their respects, sometimes the family sat for hours doing nothing.

"It's not that the neighbors and locals are cold towards Mr. Tin. As far as I know, most of the people are at work, especially since today is not the weekend. In the evening, more people will come to visit," said To Hieu.

The children, sons and daughters of Thuong Tin, were all bewildered and sad. However, they did not have much connection with each other, so they mostly answered questions and did not share anything else. Therefore, the funeral was unusually quiet.

At around 6am, Ms. Bui Kim Chi - Thuong Tin's ex-wife - brought her daughter to pay her respects to him. 11-year-old Thach Thao closed her father's eyes, changed into mourning clothes and performed a ceremony in front of his coffin; then her mother took her home. During that time, Ms. Chi just stayed outside to watch over her daughter.

In his final days, actor Thuong Tin rarely spoke and showed signs of depression. Occasionally, he would say 1-2 sentences to his relatives about his daily life, leaving no last words or wishes.

Actor Thuong Tin's mother is over 90 years old this year and has severe dementia. When she was conscious, she once told Thuong Tin: "You go first, I will choose a day and then follow."

At 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, December 10, relatives will take the coffin of actor Thuong Tin to be buried at Hoa Thuy cemetery (Ninh Phuoc, Khanh Hoa).

"Mr. Tin's funeral will only last about a day and a half, then the burial ceremony will be held on time for the auspicious day. The family will keep it simple and neat and will not organize any other events in Ho Chi Minh City," said To Hieu.
