At Hanh Phuc Kindergarten (Ward 9, Ca Mau City), summer classes have been operating since the beginning of June, with 5 classes, each with 15-20 children. Unlike the regular school program, summer classes are a time for children to play, experience, and develop soft skills in a safe and friendly environment.

Ms. Nguyen Mai Huong, Deputy Principal of Hanh Phuc Kindergarten, said: “Summer classes usually last from June to August. The school focuses on caring for and organizing experiential activities for children. Children will participate in many fun games right on the school grounds, such as playing in basket boats, catching fish, making pottery, planting trees, etc. Children usually love to play and explore , so the school has arranged activities suitable for each age group. The goal is to create a positive mindset, helping children to be excited to come to class, have friends to play with, instead of just staying at home.”

Beyond focusing on experiences, the school also pays special attention to health and nutrition during the summer. Daily menus are scientifically designed, prioritizing home-grown vegetables and seasonal fruits. In addition, children enjoy foot baths with rose petals and eucalyptus essential oil to help prevent common colds and boost their immune system during the hot summer days.

To prevent common summer illnesses such as chickenpox and hand, foot, and mouth disease, the school regularly cleans and disinfects the premises. Children showing signs of illness are advised to stay home temporarily to ensure the safety of the entire class. Teachers regularly clean and disinfect classrooms and toys to minimize the risk of disease transmission.

Before launching the summer program, Hanh Phuc Kindergarten conducted a survey of parents' opinions. The results showed that the majority of families wanted a safe and flexible childcare option during the summer break, especially since parents still have to work all day.

When children go to school during the summer, they get to play freely with their classmates.

"Maintaining summer classes gives parents more peace of mind when they go to work. Children not only receive attentive care but also have friends and teachers to play and learn with. This creates a balance between work and family life, reducing the burden on grandparents or relatives," Ms. Huong added.

Besides increasing teachers' income, summer childcare also reduces the pressure on parents by relieving them of the constant search for childcare. Thanks to these beneficial activities, children's summers become even more meaningful. In particular, children not only have fun but also learn many valuable things, especially life skills.
