Provincial armed forces help schools recover from storm No. 10.

With the spirit of “human life is above all” and the motto “wherever there is difficulty and danger, there are soldiers”, right before, during and after the storms have passed, the provincial military is always ready to be on duty, participating in helping and providing relief to the people. In Nong Cong commune, one of the most heavily flooded areas in the recent storm No. 10 with more than 3,000 households isolated by rising floodwaters, the government, military and police forces urgently used motorboats and rowing boats to approach the isolated areas.

Colonel Le Van Khanh, Political Commissar of the Defense Command of Region 5 - Tinh Gia, who directly commanded the troops at the scene, said that he had directed the mobilization of maximum forces to be on duty continuously at Nong Cong, organizing rescue and supplying necessities to the people. In addition to the concentrated supply, the unit's boats and ships operated at maximum capacity, supplying necessities in the afternoon, and transporting the elderly and children to concentrated evacuation areas in the afternoon... Thousands of essential necessities were transferred by the troops to boats and distributed to each household. The elderly and children were urgently evacuated from the dangerous area to a safe place by the authorities. In just a few days, more than 5,000 officers and soldiers along with nearly 4,000 militiamen were mobilized to evacuate nearly 20,000 people from dangerous areas, overcome landslides, clear cut traffic routes, and transport necessities and medicine to isolated areas.

To perform well the tasks, the provincial armed forces are regularly strengthened in all aspects. The militia and self-defense forces are deployed widely, and are annually trained in military and political education, achieving and exceeding the set targets. The Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command (CHQS) coordinate with the functional departments and branches of the province to advise the Provincial Steering Committee on organizing drills on natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue, and civil defense for a number of districts, ensuring safety and achieving the set goals and requirements. Organize commune-level drills with thousands of participants. Through the drills, the qualifications and capacity of officers in charge of incident response, natural disasters, catastrophes, and rescue have been raised; people's awareness of natural disaster prevention and control has clearly changed.

Promoting the tradition of "Blood and flesh bond with the People, army and people with one will", with the function of a working army and the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the provincial armed forces have effectively deployed the emulation movements " Thanh Hoa armed forces join hands to build new rural areas"; "Thanh Hoa armed forces join hands for the poor - No one is left behind"; the movement "Skilled mass mobilization" has been implemented comprehensively, synchronously and effectively, contributing significantly to strengthening the great national unity bloc, army and people solidarity, building a solid "people's heart position".

From practical activities such as field trips combined with mass mobilization work, participating in the New Rural Construction, in the past time, the provincial armed forces have mobilized 9,461 working days, over 6 billion VND... to support 363 former communes, 717 villages and hamlets meeting the New Rural Construction standards; 97 old communes meeting the advanced New Rural Construction standards; 23 old communes and 489 villages and hamlets meeting the model New Rural Construction standards; 13 old district-level units meeting the New Rural Construction standards. The provincial armed forces have also coordinated to support the construction of 261 "Great Unity Houses", 18 "Comrade Houses", 56 "Houses of Gratitude"; 4 "100 Dong Houses" for military personnel, policy families, and the poor with special housing difficulties with an amount of 27 billion VND. Effectively implementing the project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school" in the period of 2021-2030, the Provincial Military Command adopted 8 children and sponsored 120 children with an amount of over 1 billion VND.

Colonel Pham Van Sam, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, affirmed: "The provincial armed forces have promoted their core role with the functions of "combat army", "working army", "production labor army" and the spirit of "Where there are difficulties and hardships, there are military officers and soldiers". When the Fatherland and the People need them, "Uncle Ho's soldiers" are always ready to go, accept all hardships and dangers ahead, even if they have to sacrifice their lives, they will not falter. Helping the people has become one of the top combat missions in peacetime of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", an order coming from the heart".
